Josephine was very kind and friendly. We are in Niagara to celebrate our 33 anniversary and just happened upon this little... gem. The food is fantastic. We ended our lunch with a slice of their amazing Kunafah. We spent more than normal for lunch butit is our anniversary and we wanted to try multiple dishes. Worth every penny and leftovers to boot! Portions are really small, and everything was very burnt and super salty. I was craving something salty and flavourful so we... picked this place after going once for a wrap last week, last week it was alright. Tonight everything was so salty I almostdidn?t finish the meal and both the chicken and beef were over cooked. Many pieces of the beef were charred so black there wasno meat left to actually eat. Visited this restaurant on a Tuesday night around 7:30, as it was one of the more affordable halal restaurants in the city and... my friends are Muslim and are observing Ramadan this month. From the minute we walked in the door the owner made us all feelvery welcome, told us about where he was from and even had food and drink recommendations for us! Everything we had there wasamazing! Amazing, authentic flavors, definitely not your white-washed Middle Eastern food. The owner was even nice enough togive my friends dates to break their fast, give us some sweets to try on the house, and give us hats to take a group picture.Visiting was definitely a highlight of the trip, I highly recommend this place to anyone who visits Niagara Falls! I saw that they do catering so I thought they would be a good choice for a large family meal. I was incorrect in my assessment.... Almost everything in the meal was disappointing. I hate to be negative, but this is not a good representation of Middle-Easternfood. It's barely at mall food court level. The breakdown of the meal is below: -The falafel was too dry -The tahini was sowatered down that it barely had any taste and wouldn't stick to the falafel at all when you dipped it in. All it did was add abit of white colour to it. -The garlic potatoes were basically diced potatoes with a bit of garlic flavour. Nothing like theroasted potatoes I've had before elsewhere. -The rice in the vine leaves tasted hard and undercooked -The fattoush salad wassuper soggy -The tabbouleh was OK but there was too much green and not enough everything else -The hummus was alright but notgreat. I've had better from the grocery store -I didn't have the shishkebab skewers but they were too salty from what I wastold -I didn't hear complaints about the shawarma so it must have been OK -The rice was passable but not great either -The frieswere good but it's pretty hard to mess up fries, haha. Tried Palms Shawarma & Mediterranean Cafe last night and it was hands down one of the best plates we've had in the Niagara... region! ???? The owner was beyond friendly, humourous, and hospitable! We ordered the Shaamiyyat (grilled shawarma on saj) anda Mix Shawarma Platter (beef + chicken). The food portions were just perfect and everything tasted amazing!
