Ordered St. Louis ribs,. dry-rubbed, for takeout. The front staff were very nice and helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu.... That was encouraging, because the last time i went there (about a year and a half ago), they screwed up my order so badly Inever went back. But these people were very nice and on top of their jobs. The ribs were delicious, just a terrific flavor. Ihaven't had better tasting ribs anywhere in the Lexington area. Problem was, they were burnt so black, about half of them werevery difficult to chew, and some I couldn't chew at all. I wound up throwing about a quarter of the order away, because it wasjust charred. But the rest was very tasty. They must have an excellent recipe. They also must have a cook on duty tonight withthin light-colored hair, 4-5 inches long, wavy or curly. I know this because I pulled about 15 of those hairs out of my ribs. Ihope they shower regularly, because those hairs were a significant part of the meal. I'll probably go back some time in thefuture, because the taste was terrific. I just won't order dry rub again. I'll probably get something like pulled pork, orsomething that starts off more moist. They were very nice people, and pleasant to deal with. Read more
While the food is pretty good and the service, I did not appreciate that they wouldn't honor the military discount for food I... ordered for take out. Bad attitude about it coming from the manager as he was at the cashier picking up tickets as I was goingto pay; put the poor girl who was taking care of my bill in a full embarrassing situation. He said: we do not honor militarydiscount in food to go! Puzzled me his response along as his attitude..trying to fix it with a "they keep their prices down onfood"..what!? Yup...so to my military/veterans in the area..here is a no so supporting place...or maybe was just the manager'sdecision.... Read more
I definitely recommend the brisket. It's my favorite. I will say this, when you go in to eat you get better food, then when you... do drive thru or call it in. When you pick up or drive through your food is not fresh and the brisket is all fat.our waitresswas great. Read more
Stopped at Sonny’s tonight for some BBQ with the family. I had the whole hog sandwich combo (comes with sliced pork, pulled... pork, and slices of their jalapeño cheddar sausage links on a bun or garlic toast, one side item, and a drink), my wife had thesmoked turkey dinner (came with sliced smoked turkey breast, and 2 sides), and my daughter had the Cuban sandwich combo meal(comes with pork, pickles, cheese, and sauce on pressed toasted bread, one side item, and a drink). Everyone loved their foodand found it to be hot and fresh with the exception of the turkey being a little on the dry side. The service was excellent andthe restaurant was clean. This was our first visit to this Sonny's in Nicholasville, Kentucky in December 2021, but we are long time fans of Sonny's. The... dry rub ribs were tremendous and the service was excellent. The turkey was not quite up to Sonny's par, but it was OK and therest of the food made up for it. Read more
