Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Portillo's is a Chicago must! All Portillo's... restaurants have their own unique style but same classic diner vibe, along with the classic pick-up order tag lines, friendlystaff, and a few life-long employees too. Forgot to take photos of this visit's order of a Chili Cheese Dog (I should haveordered two) but how can you forget about their infamously large frosty chalices of beer (picture here doesn't do justice)! Iremember when these used to be $3.50 (or less?) years ago but $4/5 ain't bad at all. Portillo's never gets old and is always agood option. I usually get a Jumbo Dog and most recently, their Plant-based Garden Dog is good! Their Tamales are underrated aswell. On the Barnelli's side, I always get the Chopped Salad (of course!) no Ditalini Pasta. Chocolate Cake is a must and so istheir Chocolate Cake Shake! Read more

Chicago hot dogs are my favorite, and few do it better than Portillo's in my opinion. I always stop by when I'm in Chicago. I... love the fries too. They put some kinda magic fairy pixie dust seasoning on the fries that make it impossible to stop eating. Mypicky kids ate all the fries! Docked a star because their dipped sandwich was an awful, soggy mess. I'm guessing it sat too longwhile the rest of our items were prepped. Portillo's well..., what can I say. If you live in the state of Illinois chances are you know and you tried Portillo's before so... for those who don't, you need to go to one of their 67 locations and I have to say some of these locations are not only inIllinois. The atmosphere inside the restaurants is always a glance to the past in some way. If you are for some good fast food,definitely you need to try Portillo's. My best experience so far has been on their suburbs locations, nothing against Chicagodowntown locations but, suburbs are way more well maintained and the employees are always attentive. Read more
Couldn?t even eat my sandwich. Took two bites and threw it in the garbage. What happened to your great beef sandwiches? ... Ordered a dipped Italian beef with mozz and sweet peppers. The peppers were hard and not fully cooked but the worst part wasthat there was not a drip of juice on it. Driest sandwich ever and just awful. I can not express how delicious this restaurant actually is and we have Portillo's in Indianapolis, but it lacks the depth of... flavor and serious deliciousness of the native Chicago versions. Portillo's hot dogs are not longer the same, after all the restaurants was sold to a Boston base company, the service, the... quality of the food are not longer 5 stars, today I was eating an Italian beef sandwich and the bread was hard in some areas itlooks like the bread was old the original Portillo's was using only fresh ingredients, fresh bread delivered daily from Turanobread, the beef had no flavor and the beef was tough and chewy, it's a shame, we miss the real portillo's seasoning and foodquality, I was at portillo's on 8832 W Dempster st Niles IL my order was #255 on today November 10,2022 time was 11:39 in themorning Read more
