Had a decent brunch at Baker?s Crust. The service was a bit slow and our waiter wasn?t too attentive. They also ran out of... coffee so the employees had to run to a nearby store to pick up more. But the food made up for all the waiting. The portions aredecent and the flavors are there. I do wish the chicken in the chicken and waffles was more seasoned as it was very bland. Read more
A local chain. This is the second visit but different location. They serve breakfast choices until 3pm then a lovely selection... of artisanal fresh creations for lunch and dinner. We stopped after coming back from Minneapolis. For starters we tried thetavern chips. House made Parmesan chips with mozzarella and maple smoked bacon bits baked on top. This was a VERY generousportion of chips. John very much enjoyed the French onion soup- and here me now- real traditional style baked with guyerecheese and seasoned croutons. Served piping hot as all soup should be served. I had the chicken and waffle- was not feelingexploratory- this was a traditional Belgium waffle with three tenders buttermilk friend with honey beurre bland and warm maplesyrup. The chicken was tender and crisp. I am not a fan of sauce on my fried chicken but it did provide a nice sweetness. Johnenjoyed a classic American Dish of Smokey Bacon Burger stack. Two beef Pattie?s, maple cayenne bacon, fried onion rings, Smokeyapologies, American cheese, (he held off on the dill kosher pickle chips) served on a brioche roll with fresh cut fries. Onceagain perfectly cooked to order and the beef juicy and the onion rings and fries crispy. For desert- a very tough choice. Iultimately selected the carrot cake (also a generous portion) while John had a chocolate chip cookie with his black coffee. Thepresentation was great on all the dishes (my apologies on some pics taken after I started eating lol) Holden was our server andwas very helpful answering questions and helping with menu selections. Bakers Crust in located in the picturesque Norfolk Ghent district. After (or before) shopping in any of the great shops you can... relax with a cool beer, cocktail or non alcoholic drink and a eat from a diverse menu. We selected the tuna burger and BaltimoreBenedict. On weekends you can add a Bloody Mary, Mimosa or grapefruit punch for less than $5. The tuna burger came out perfect!Seated to perfection with a tasty aioli and hand cut fries. The Baltimore Benedict was a disappointment. The crab meat was hardto find, the egg was not set and the béarnaise sauce was very sparsely applied. The tatter tots where perfect. All in all goodvalue for money. Happy Hour at Baker's Crust is the place to be. The host Amari greeted us right away and offered us a table on the patio. I... ordered the Happy Hour Chicken Taco, Cheese Pizza, and Fries w/ dipping aioli that were delicious. Jacob made sure all ourneeds were taken care of and made us feel very welcome. Those is one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to. I had the breakfast burrito and others had the Jamaican French... toast and the blueberry pancakes. The burrito was amazing and I usually hate pancakes, but tasted some and was entirelyimpressed. Our server was hilarious and fun and made us feel really welcome. Was a fantastic time. First time here, definitely not my last. Three of us enjoyed a late lunch. We all ordered different sandwiches, and everyone was... very satisfied. We were all unexpectedly gifted a free soup compliments of the kitchen (tomato bisque) which was amazing andappreciated. I can't wait to try Baker's Crust again.
