Truly an exceptional experience and a prime example of fine dining. My brother and his wife spoke very highly of this restaurant... and insisted on taking me when I came to town. It definitely lived up to the hype. The wait staff was professional, courteous,knowledgeable about the menu, and took excellent care of us overall. The food was spectacular!! This was a dining experience that went above and beyond my expectations! I sat in the bar area and the service was top-notch.... Very friendly and with great suggestions on both food and wine. The ambiance was that of a traditional steakhouse, quiet andelegant. I had the Surf and Turf with an Oscared Filet and it was down the best meal I have ever had. The Mac & Cheese was richand creamy, a great addition to any meal. This restaurant is top-notch and the service is impeccable. A great place for specialoccasions or date nights. This was a dining experience that exceeded my expectations. From the hot hand towels to the dessert lol. The waiter we had... (Damon) was exceptional from the moment we were seated even with accommodating food preferences just a bit. The salmon had justthe right amount sweetness to not pull away from the risotto s salmon. This was our second time coming back to Byrd to & Baldwin for a date night celebration, and I cannot rave enough about how good... the food and service was. We were able to valet our car which is a plus in downtown Norfolk. And our waiter was friendly andchecked on us regularly to ensure we were satisfied with everything.The atmosphere of the restaurant is conducive to a quiet andintimate dinner. Additionally, the dress code and implementation of restricted age enable dinner conversation which is very niceas many upscale steakhouses we have been to are very loud. My husband had the diamond crusted steak Oscar style and I had theribeye with a side of crab roasted corn. We shared the garlic mashed potatoes which were delicious. And then ended the nightwith their chocolate sin cake, which is definitely the best dessert at a steakhouse we have tried. Overall a fantasticexperience, we will absolutely be back. Read more

I thought the food was very well seasoned. The ambience is desirable when you consider a Steakhouse of this caliber. Parking... needs to be addressed. They do have valet, but they only had one attendant on a Friday evening! He did a great job by the way!Considering this spot is downtown Norfolk, and parking is subpar! Now as far as food was concerned, I won?t say it was great?itwas just okay. I ordered the crab cake and spinach. Both were delicious! The crab cake was actually crab meat and very littlebreading, which is the way crab cakes should be prepared. I thought my garlic spinach had wayyy too much oil, but the flavorwas great. The raw oysters were good and I requested horseradish which was very flavorful. I wouldn?t put it on the top of mydining lists, but it?s okay. Not worth the price points. Read more

I've never heard of Byrd and Baldwin Bros. Steakhouse until a friend of mine told me about it. They said it was better than... Ruth's Chris Steak House. It was actually very good. Excellent! While it's not the cheapest place in town, they delivered on what was expected and beyond. The staff was very... attentive, the food was top notch, and the atmosphere left me wanting to design a similar experience at my own home. On theatmosphere, we arrived without a reservation so we were seated in the basement, and I enjoyed that immensely. It was quieter,more low-key, and would've been my preferred choice of most any place in the restaurant. I couldn't have been more pleased withthe filet mignon. It was literally the best filet I can recall in many years. The lobster topped the filet very well and wasalso cooked expertly. The sides were great too. If I'm being extremely nitpicking, the only minor issue I had was that theoysters seemed to have been sitting post-shucking for a bit so they were a tad dry. That said, they were still super tasty, verymild, and some of the best I've had outside of Monterey. Read more
