Las Chicas is a Uruguayan style cafe and bakery with a quaint, rustic Interior aesthetic, friendly and hard-working staff, and... excellent selection of desserts, baked goods, and drinks. If there?s a soccer match worth watching, they?re likely playing iton the TV here. The music here is great, usually some combination of Latino influenced ska, reggae, rap fusion. Think BombaEstéreo or Manu Chao. They?re always improving things. A few months ago their pasqualina was way too bready, but theyrecently made it leaner and tastier. The glaze on their empanadas is thicker, giving them a more goldenappearance. All-in-all, I love it here. Very chill and relaxed vibe unless it?s very crowded (which is bound to happen when thefood is good). I like the prices and the coffee is on point, which is a must if you?re going to compete in this neighborhood. Cakes have gone downhill! See before/after photos. The before was taken last year (December), after was taken last week. Cakes... used to be much more fresh tasting, and with much more topping. Now, they barely have any whipped frosting, and taste bad, veryold! Also, I found what looked like small pieces of dark hair all over the top frosting. This used to be a regular place for myfamily, but sadly we won?t go back due to the quality of desserts being worse every time we go. Read more
