Going to Mofongo made us feel we were in Puerto Rico. If you come for the first time to this restaurant I would definitely... suggest you the Mofongo. They even offer a vegan option which was exceptional and delicious. The meat version was good but meatwas not the best. All the food served were fresh. It is very possible you must wait for being seated in the restaurant. Theservice is also kind of slow but they are just two of them working. Read more
I am a huge fan of this place. They're the only restaurant within plane trips that offer authentic Caribbean Cuisine at... reasonable prices. Anything guisado is a must. Mofongo is a must. The drink, Morir Soñando, is a must. Leaving full is mostlyan obligation, but not a chore. I can wholeheartedly recommend the original mofongo with any of their meat choices. You reallycan't go wrong. The rice and beans are truly on point, every time. This trip marked the first time I tried their bacalaíto andI was not disappointed. Being married into the Puerto Rican family, I've always been interested in the food. I never got to try anything except the... pasteles, and figured it was time to finally try a Mofongo! Mofongos is a cute little shop a few blocks away from NoHo ArtsDistrict. The interior is filled with fun Puerto Rican decorations and cool tables that feature various things from Puerto Rico.The menu offers a variety of options for those who don't want to eat Monfongo, but for those who do, they have a plethora ofdifferent protein options to pair with your Mofongo of choice! We decided to share a platter of the Todo Un Poco, so I couldtry other appetizers and the Mofongo de Bistec Encebollado. The appetizer was really yummy, and I highly recommend it.Practically everything was fried, and delicious. I enjoyed Alcapúrria the most, I loved the bouncy texture of the yucca. Whenthe Mofongo arrived, I was really excited to try it. I loved all the flavors in the sauce, and appreciated all the garlic. Itreminded me of mashed potatoes, but with way more flavor! Would love to try their other protein pairings in the future, like thechicken or the pork! So glad to have finally tried a Puerto Rican staple! The place is small and the food is a bit on the salty side. Over all, it is tasty. The waitress is new and trying her best to... serve. But the waiter seemed a bit more careless and rarely showed up. We got seated with another table in the back. Not onlyfork and spoon were missing, the water was never filled. He only showed up once when food was delivered. We had to get our ownpepper and salt. And last, our bill. An old man seemed more diligent, maybe the chef or boss himself, however, he only said yesand then never returned. We have been here a few times, the worst time was being seated in the back. The other times weregreat, no complaints at all. I guess you just have be inside to her good service when they can see you. They also chargedhigher than the menu and simply said: we have not updated the menu and price yet. There is no notice whatsoever inside. I didnot feel too comfortable about this. Read more
