I really didn?t want to write this review but I?m really hoping that the owner Ivan sees this and takes my words and experience... as a learning lesson because I truly want to see all of my Black people break generational curses of financial Illiteracy. Iwas referred to this restaurant by 2 family members after I told them I was looking to support a black owned restaurant . Theysaid the food was amazing so I took their word for it and did not read the reviews prior to going. I was also very excited thatit was a Haitian owned restaurant since my I?m also Haitian . I only visited the website and IG page to view the menu. Since Iwent on the web site I already knew what the owner/Chef Ivan looked like. Anyway, my friend and I went on a Saturday night at7pm and upon arrival, we were the only patrons there. My friend found that alarming but I didn?t and figured it will get busylater. As soon as we entered, the bartender greeted us and at the bar, there sat Chef Ivan. I made direct eye contact with himand he looked my friend and I up and down and did not greet us. I didn?t like that but I let it go because again, I wanted tosupport my people. We wanted to try a few of the ?small plates? so we ordered the cookhouse platter(see pic). Since the Chef wasthere I thought he would cook our food but he didn?t and remained seated at the bar so another cook in the back prepared ourfood. My friend and I did not like the food at all. It was disappointing since I was expecting authentic Haitian cuisine. Thebest part was the pina colada my friend ordered and the greens. Since we disliked the food, we decided not to order anythingelse so our visit there was about an hour. For our entire visit , we were the only patrons there. While the waitress wasgetting our check, I went to the bathroom and when I returned there were two older white woman sitting at the table next to us .As I was walking to our table , my friend was giving me a look and I immediately caught on as to why be Read more

Came here with my brother and grandparents looking for a lovely sit down Haitian spot. I was very disappointed by almost... everything We had. Cook house burger: the bun had hard parts and tasted freezer burned, I asked for new bread and the new breadcame back the same way.. The fries were huge and lack any flavor. Akra: best thing we ate, very crispy and flavorful White rice& black beans: white rice was great but the beans tasted very salty and sour as if they have been sitting around fordays. Glazed salmon: grandfather had no complaints- just very sweet. We also ordered lemonade- one strawberry, one regular. Thestrawberry tasted like purée and water - absolutely no lemon detected. Overall this restaurant is very expensive and highlyoverrated, I did not have a good time here. The music and decor is dope tho!! Read more

I?m SO lucky we found this place. I had the chicken curry and everyone else went straight for the griot. I kept stealing bits of... griot from everyone in exchange for my curry, and we all agreed there wasn?t a bad bit of food on the whole table. Ivan himselfserved us and he?s a charm, too. We got Ivan?s Punch per his recommendation and it was a little TOO good. Don?t let yourdesignated driver get one ???? We?ll be back for sure. Read more

I came to this place looking for some authentic Caribbean/Haitian food, the fact that we were served by THE CHEF IVAN HIMSELF... made me think that I was in for a two hour experience of real Haiti, what I got instead was an insult of my intelligence as the"shrimp creole creole" dish (the star of their menu) came with five! (5) shrimp and canned mushrooms with a bland sauce thatwould make taco bell proud of their original recipes. The cod fish fritters were truly the most surprising element of theevening, given their lack of fish. The people from Haiti have suffered a lot through their history and when I saw this placepacked with them, I knew they were in for some more suffering once again. Read more

My family and I decided to dine in at Ivan?s for Mother?s Day. Upon I walked to the bar area to request a table of four as there... was no hostess stand at the door, Ivan raised his voice at me and demanded that I wait at the door. After about 15 minutes wewere finally seated and weren't given any menus. Ivan came to our table with and took our orders on a note pad. The price of ourorder was not disclosed, we had no idea what are the food was plentiful and had great taste. We finally received the check andwas completely blown away, we ended up paying $45 a plate plus an 18% service charge. Avoid this place at all cost. Read more

Ivan's place was great. I ordered Tasso (deep fried goat) and it was well seasoned and tender. The service was great and Chef... Ivan came to say hello to our table. Read more

Honestly Chef Ivan NEVER disappoints. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is to die for. I am usually a very slow eater but... not when I come here. I order at least one or two new dishes every time I come here to eat and everything always leaves mebreathless. There?s not many places where I can say everything on the menu is amazing. Down to the way Chef Ivan places the foodon the plate. I wish I could just live in his restaurant and order food here everyday. This will be an unforgettable experience.I ate my food so quick I forgot to take pictures. Read more

Hands down great food. I love the music he played and the location. The only reason its a 4 rating is that the owner was rude... in the beginning. However, towards the middle of lunch he mention that he is the waiter and cook due to short staff. I commendhim for keep pushing thru. Yes there's a 18% gratuity but it was worth it. Read more
