Horrible experience. This place had been recommended to me so thought I'd give it a try. Wait wasn't bad, 30 minutes or so. The... worst part was the service and the the wait for the food. It took approx 45 minutes to bring the food out after we ordered. Wemay have seen our waitress three times all night. Drink refills were never checked or brought. Further more, some things thatwere supposed to come with the order we did not get and when we ask for it our waitress seemed to get an attitude about it. Foodwas OK, I'd say middle of the road. Stay away! I really want to like this place. In the past it was good. One of my favorite places to go while in town, but it's... just disgusting now. The place was dirty. Napkins on the floor. Food on the floor. The men's bathroom had no soap, the personwho had been in the bathroom before my son and I found there was no toilet paper, as evidenced by the paper towels in thetoilet. The shrimp I had were gross and almost disintegrating. The hush puppies were not cooked all the way through. All inall everything was not pleasant. I always loved duffy's because they were consistent. But this time was different unfortunately. I always get the fish tacos,... they have a bold flavor and the tortillas would be grilled. But this time the tortillas were right out of the bag and the flavornot near as good. Our service was good but the food not so much. I always looked forward to coming here. I ordered the low country boil the boil would have been great if the shrimp were hot and fresh. It seemed as though they mixed... old shrimp with the fresh, my husband ordered the seafood combo which was good as well as the crab dip. Sadly, I have to leave a low rating - not a bad one just low. I had high hopes for this place. The facility portrays a ?Back... Ally Ghetto? feel. Our waitress was mediocre but pleasant. The food - Steam pot- was a disaster at best. Corn was over cooked tothe point of mush, corn bread was tasty but very dry. Potatoes were undercooked and had no flavor while the shrimp was overseasoned and over cooked; to the point of not being able to peel it because it was falling apart. Oysters were fine but the clamover steamed. Wife ordered grilled flounder which was delicious and well cooked; but her corn was over cooked. Not worth the $6owe paid. Wife and I LOVE eating at places for the 1st time together. Today was Duffy Street Seafood (Main Street location, they have 2... locations I believe) We arrived when they opened at 4pm and were seated immediately. Since we were 1st there, we had plenty ofchoices, but picked a window view table. Our table was nice and open and bright Our waitress Joules, was very nice, attentiveto my wifes needs, friendly and smiled a lot. Her upbeat personality was infectious, so I knew this was a good place as soon aswe were seated. We ordered Mucho Macho Blackened Shrimp Nachos.... and the steamed shrimp as appitizers.... 1st..OMG. theenachos. WOW. They were amazing.. the flavor was soooo good!!! Then we tried the steamed shrimp...again the flavors just popped!!SOO GOOD !!! I ordered the 1/2 lb burger with fries and hush puppies. My son did too , and the wife ordered seafood pick 2....flounder with fried shrimp, asparagus, hush puppies, and Cole slaw. My burger... medium rare on a toasted brioche bun. Ugh,AMAZING AGAIN!!! I can't believe all the different but complimentary to each other the flavors each item has. Fries...justfries right...nope, ole Bay fries were....yep...AMAZING!! HAHA. I normally don't, or can't use all these adjectives or evenreuse the same ones on 1 review, but Duffy Street food deserves it. Then the wife shared some of her food.... asparagus, onpoint, perfectly soft, juicy and full of flavor. Her flounder...soft, fried perfectly on the outside, soft and delicious on theinside and the shrimp. Fried shrimp is always either over cooked hard and crunchy, or under cooked and soggy....well, they werea happy medium. Perfect actually. Had a slight crunch with soft insides and again full of flavor. My wife also had aCrown/Pepsi and Piña Colada. My boyfriend and I went for happy hour and were seated along with about 20 other people, who all arrived at about the same time.... They were a little overwhelmed at first and it took some time to get everyone seated and come back to take our drinkorder. Knowing that they were already very busy, they started to take a list for seating giving guests a 1 hour wait and takingtheir phone numbers to notify them when they could return. I was happy to see that they recognized and solved the issue ofovercrowding their dining area. We shared the fishbowl strawberry banana rum runner and ordered the happy hour steamed peel andeat shrimp ($0.45 each) and steamed oysters ($0.75 each/shuck yourself) they were both good, and our waitress gave us pointerson shucking the oysters. Next we shared the corn chowder and shrimp and grits. Everything was great and we left satisfied andgot to keep the "fish bowl" as a souvenir!
