I was disappointed with the new menu, which has done away with the bowl of chicken & dumplings soup, and making it into a... combination with 2 sides! It was something several of our ladies were looking forward to on a really cool day, but couldn't getJUST the soup. The only soups offered were the soup of the day (chicken noodle) and potato, neither of which our taste buds hadbeen wanting or expecting! So we ended up having to choose from the "Pick two/mix and match, to get the Chicken & Dumplingssoup!! Please bring back the Chicken & Dumplings soup as a sole entree. Read more

Daily specials good until Sept. 30, 2022. We visited for a Friday lunch. We were greeted at entering by hostess, she seated us... where we wanted to sit and hostess pointed out the specials. Our waitress showed up in decent time, answered our questions, tookour drink and lunch orders. She didn't write it down and food arrived exactly as ordered (I find that impressive). I had chickengumbo and cobb salad (sorry no picture ~ I was hungry); hubby had all you can eat cat fish (cornmeal breaded) and it wasGOOD! 1st batch of fish was a small plate serving (assuming start small & work up to the next plate); I mentioned to waitressthis wouldn't be enough. She said she'll get a 2nd round going. 2nd round (large plate serving) showed up about ten minuteslater, I was done with my meal and hubby's stomach must've settled by this time, he ate what he could from the2nd's. Nonetheless the food was good and our waitress is a sweetheart. Sorry I forgot her name but we tipped her well. Great service. Friendly staff. Quick service & hot food at 1:30pm on a Monday. Good selection of food options on the... menu. Great sweet potato fries. Good side salad. OK meatloaf. I?ll be fair and say in a rush I called to order ahead for dine in to save time. I didn?t ask and didn?t realize that blue... cheese replaces cheddar in a salad. However, count this restaurant among the many that give less for more money. No rolls, nocrackers for dine in and so not much for salad and tea for $16.55 (before tip), so better skip this if you don?t consider thisgood value for the money. Read more

Friendly but clueless service. Our waitress was nice but not very smart in terms of process. A couple examples to factor for... yourself: After waiting ten minutes for our water and sodas, she shows up at our table tells me she accidentally gave my wateraway. No big deal, except she didn?t go get it then. We watched her get two more trays of drinks, delivery them to other tables,take multiple orders and finally bring me my water another 10-12 minutes later. We ordered our food along with sides like saladthat should have come earlier than the food. We inquired if we could have our salad and soups before the food, she said yes. Shethen brought my wife her salad and soup but not mine. I asked for my soup to which she told me mine had already been served andwas in my plate so she didn?t bring it, of course, that means part of my dinner was sitting on a pass getting cold along with mysoup. Our dinner finally came. My soup was cold and congealed. I had asked for no cheese on top of the bake potato soup givencheese dislike. She never mentioned - although I can blame the menu too - that unlike the menu the soup was not cream but cheesebased as well. I would not have ordered it. I had to snare her five minutes later when she finally came by to ask for a spoon.She seemed annoyed with with request, but really, should I use the fork for soup. Friendly service in a clean Texas style diner. Great food and totally recommend the fried pickles.
