I am really disappointed in the food here, over the last year or so!! The original owner was the father/father-in-law of the... current owners. When talking to local people who have eaten here for 40 years or more, a lot of them are saying the same thing.The daughter-in-law has made changes and for whatever reason, the son and she seem to have changed and skimped on the foodflavor and quality!! It has been told to the new owners and they haven't listened. The local people are what keep thisrestaurant open throughout the year, and if they dont go back to the original way that made it the popular place it was, theywill not survive!! That is sad, because the food was always exceptional and you got lots for a fair price!! The staff were greatand very happy with the original owners, but I can tell you now, it is not a happy place to work, by some of the faces on thestaff. They have never said a word to me or anyone I know, but I have been going to this place for at least 35 years or more andthe staff just look, very unhappy with the way things are run there. Fresh tasting, ready in ten minutes, decent sized portions AND they put the red sauce on the side (so the chicken balls or... whatever you get it with, stays crunchy and fresh). This place is better service and quality than most places in Halifaxcity! We ordered chow mein, chicken balls (12 in a pack), vegetable fried rice, dumplings and two spring rolls for $55 Willorder again. Thank you! Read more

If there was zero stars i would give that. The worst Chinese food place I've ever been to. All combination plates are 14.75 no... matter if its just plain fried rice and mixed vegetables or ribs rice chicken balls and chow mein, there should definitely be aprice difference for cheaper, less food. I wanted my sweet and sour sauce on the side for my combo plate but was told it was 75cents(plus tax) extra to get it on the side even though the sauce was supposed to come with the meal anyway, the girl behind thecounter couldn't grasp the concept that the sauce is included in the price and that there shouldn't be an extra charge, i didn'tget it, the food was expensive enough. Now the food, the rice was bland and mushy, the egg rolls were tasteless, the beef andbroccoli tasted like the beef was rancid, an absolute waste of money. Ordered chow mein and ginger beef. Was given chop suey and some other kind of beef. When we called the restaurant the lady... argued with us and claimed chow mein does not have noodles and claimed to have bagged our order and knew it was correct. She wasvery unprofessional. Charged extra for plain rice, which was only chicken fried rice without the chicken. Why would I pay more for a rice with less... in it?? Offered a very small dish of plum sauce between two people who had 4 egg rolls each. Server didn't visit table once fromserving plates, until the time she came with bill. Didn't offer more water etc. Very warm inside. Felt like there was no AC andalso, wouldn't allow patrons to use WiFi. Read more

I would consider myself a fairly regular customer at the canton. Normally the food is good. I like to order the number 10... comb/plate. However, tonight I order my #10 plate, get home and ready to eat and the veggies are mush, eat is cold no favor andhard, also egg roll is off. Only thing I could eat was chicken balls. So I call to let them know. First told vegies weresupposed to be muskie after being cooked. I was asked my phone number told it wasn't in their system. Then told they could giverice and veggies but not chicken balls because I did eat them. NOW NOT TO HANDLE CUSTOMERS. Have a look at this dish. Read more
