11/06/2022 - Congee Queen is my go to restaurant for my big family gathering. This was the first time I ate at this location.... There was a bit of a lineup and we had to wait around 30-45 minutes to be seated, luckily the restaurant was inside a plaza sowe walked around and visited other stores around the area to kill time. Since it was located within a plaza, there was a lot ofparking as well. When our table was ready, the employee showed us our table and gave us time to look at the menu. They noticedwhen we were ready to order instantly and came to take our order. The employees were fairly nice and the food was preparedreally fast as well. We ordered quite a bit of food and had to take out the leftover food that we didn't finish. ???? the Salt& Pepper Salt Squid, I sometimes order this whenever I go to Congee Queen and it tasted as good as all the other times I've hadit. ???? the Empress Fried Rice was delicious. This was the first time I've tried this fried rice dish from Congee Queen andnow it might be a hot pick for me. ???? the General Tao Chicken was more sweet than how I was used to it being. It was stillgood, but I didn't eat as much of this dish as I usually would. ???? the Platter with assorted meats, this was the first timeI've ordered this dish, it came with BBQ Pork, Roasted Pork, BBQ Duck, Soy sauce Chicken, and Jelly Fish. The dish was deliciousand flavourful, each meat packing it's very own flavour combination with the sauce provided. The jelly fish was something I alsoenjoyed eating as well, the texture was chewy. I really liked this dish. ???? it wouldn't be a proper review if I didn't trytheir congee since the restaurant is called Congee Queen. We ordered the House Super Bowl Congee, which contained mixes ofseafood such as tiger shrimp, scallop, hokkigai, salmon, garoupa, and crab meat. The dish itself did not pack as much flavour asthe other dishes I've ordered. However it did help me with my upset stomach. My stomach had been u Read more

Food is generally great. This experience may not be indicative of their quality. The Hot and Sour soup was bland. (Missing the... hot and sour) The Chilean Sea Bass was a disappointment as we have had it before. Quality was not there. They were out ofmenu items we wanted. The best piece was the chicken in Black bean sauce that usually comes out on a hot plate, came in aregular plate and got cold long before we could enjoy it. As for the tea it sat way too long before being served. Over allexperience is dissatisfactory. We just had the same stuff at Congee Queen on Steeles and 404 and the difference is staggering. First let me say that the porridge in this shop is delicious, but overall this shop is not my type. Except for the porridge,... everything else tasted average. If you are someone who likes Cantonese food, maybe you will like it. But if you don't likeCantonese food, it may not be the best choice for you. In addition, the service needs to be improved. We reserved a seat inadvance. When we arrived, the receptionist asked us to find the seat of our friend who arrived in advance. Read more

Decided to order lobster with ginger and onion for take out, and let me just say, it’s at most disappointing. Usually what I... got in dine in is must much bigger portions with lots of lobster meat, but this one is NOTHING BUT SHELLS. I don’t know ifthe chefs just like to decide and divide things up giving me the shells with less lobster meat, and they get the rest of thelobster meat for themselves to enjoy. I literally payed a whopping total of $71.76 expecting to get some good lobster meat, butended up getting lobster shells with one or three pieces of lobster meat. Highly disappointed. Highly recommend not to order ANYLOBSTER DISHES for take out. Read more

With multiple locations across Toronto, it's defiantly one of the staple Chinese restaurants in the city. All locations are... always clean, cheap, fast and of great authentic Chinese food. All locations I've visited are also very friendly towardsnon-Chinese patrons as the servers can speak English, will ask if you need a utensils or a plate, and they also offer vegetarianoptions. Me and my family have been here so many times. These are dishes that we mostly like to have each time visiting. The dishes are... mostly meant for sharing, so it's nice to have a group to share and try different dishes. Prices are higher than other placesbut they are yummy, not too salty. Good service as well.
