I ordered online a customized cake with a long movie quote I wanted written on the top. Because it was a unique request I called... the store before placing my order to make sure I picked an appropriately sized cake and there would be no issue accommodatingthe text- I was assured there would be no problem. On the day it was scheduled to be delivered at 3:30pm I missed a call fromthe shop at 3:09 and returned it at 3:14. They were calling to make sure the text was accurate because it was so long, I saidyes it was, and they replied with "good, because it's already out for delivery anyways." The type was terrible (half cursive,half not, very uneven and lumpy, illegible in some places), the line spacing was not even, they misspelled the words 'money' and'frightened,' random letters are capitalized throughout, the last word is falling off the edge of the cake, and I did notrequest any flowers on it. There is no way around it, the cake looks terrible. This is not worth the nearly $50 I paid to haveit professionally done. If I could give them 0 stars I would. I stopped by here to get icecream for my family and was attacked because of the way I... dress and they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. It was very sad that not one person stuck up for me or said anything to the injusticethat was happening. I bought a $29 ice cream cake for a birthday party at the NUTLEY CARVEL ON FRANKLIN AVE! When I cut into the cake there was... barely any chocolate crunchies between the two layers of ice cream. I went back two days later with my receipt and pictures ofthe cake showing them that there were hardly any crunchies in the cake and what they wanted to give me for compensation was acup of extra crunchies. I asked for a discount off the purchase of my next ice cream cake and they said no. They said there weresome crunchies in the cake so they cannot compensate me for anything. The Oriental husband and wife are the two cheapest ownersof a business that I?ve ever met! Rather than compensate me in someway to correct they?re wrong, they were willing to lose acustomer! This place, like all the other Carvels has great ice cream since the recipe is shared, but the service here is awful. They have... so many restrictions and regulations that other Carvels don't have. I am extremely annoyed and upset that I have to drive acrosstown for a good scoop of ice cream and decent service. Read more
Outstanding ice cream, I've been visiting here about 15 years. It is family owned!! They are very hard working and I'm always... greeted warmly. Nice assortment of cakes and variety of ice creams. I read a comment about the appearance...I go specificallyfor their ice cream, not concerned about anything else.
