We had a wonderful server and the view of oakbrook from the 9th floor is wonderful. Who were seated along the window. Look, most... people are enticed by the city views from Chicago restaurants. But there is more to life than urban living. We had a wonderfulview of the oakbrook suburbs even though we were nestled in the mall area of oakbrook. The decor in the restaurant is sparse andmodern and the clean ambiance is open and enticing. This restaurant sits on the 9th floor of Le Meridien hotel in oakbrook. Itis a great destination restaurant if you are spending a night or two in the western suburbs. The food was only tolerable. Iwould have appreciated a little more salt in the recipes or at least a salt and pepper Shaker on the table. The place was notcrowded at 6:00 p.m. on a Friday night. There are many more comforting and inviting places in the area that cater to folks whodon't like to stray out of there comfort zone. But still, I'm happy we have this place so near to us. Read more

We had the patatas bravas and datiles for starter. Those were really good. The acidity of the sauce served with the dates cut... through the sweetness of the dates perfectly. We also had the paella de diablo. Again, one of the better paellas we've had inIllinois. For dessert, we had the Spanish baclava and a chocolate mousse/chocolate crumble. The baclava was really good. Thechocolate-y dessert was the only let down. Overall, a must try for sure. Read more

I was really, really, (I mean that really twice) wanted to like this place. I made reservations twice andcoyld not make it.... Something was keeping me from going there, that's why I believed that when I finally arrived, that it would be so delicious andout of this world, that words could simply not describe it. What a DISASTER, DISAPPOINTMENT, I almost cried. We been to severaltapas locations and this although in a great area is by far the worst food we've ever tasted. First of all let me tell you thatour server was great and the service was pretty good. Now for number two, second, the food itself was terrible. We started withthe pork pancetta, pork belly, it tasted like glazed ham, not impressed. Next we had the patatas bravas. No floor at all, I meannot one smidge of flavor on the sauce or even the aioli. I had to drizzle a ton of salt to make it edible. Next came the shortrib flatbread, again not impressed. The short rib could of been so much more. Not impressed. We opted for our next tapas andordered of all things the chicken empanadas. The best of all the dishes. If all their tapas were as flavorful as the enpanas, winner winner. The drinks were pretty decent but overpriced for what I got. The sangria, they can keep. I've tasted better froma Walgreens bottle. The Nutella dessert looked like the restaurant had left over pieces of dark cookies and cake layers and justthrew it in a plate. Will I ever go back, Not even for free. If you want to compare asome good tapas, start with La Parra, thenRustico, and finally Jaleo, the best for last. I guarantee you'll never go back to el tapeo. I know we never will. Wish we couldget our money back. Read more

I like the design of the restaurant, because it looks like a gallery, the furniture is new and modern. We ordered 2 appetizers :... one with bacon and dates , the second was with octopus and fennel. It was amazing and delicious taste. The paella did notimpress us because clams had a lot of sand inside. Overall experience is great and we will come back. They need more staff, toserve food on time. Recently went here on a night out with the girlfriend. We really like Tapas and wanted to try a new place closer to home. This... restaurant is located on the 9th floor of a hotel which we thought was kind of cool. The signature cocktails are good although abit expensive. We usually share a pitcher of sangria with tapas but passed as the price is $45. The octopus was very tender andhad good flavor. The Patatas Bravas tasted like french fries with a spicy sauce served over them. The pork shank was juicy witha nice sweet glaze. We were seriously disappointed with the goat cheese and tomatoe dish. The tomatoe sauce tasted likesomething you'd find on a kids pasta. It was way too sweet and the goat cheese lacked in flavor. The menu states it comes withgarlic polenta bread, but it tasted like regular toasted table bread. We asked the waitress if there was a mistake and sheinformed us that it is actually polenta infused and we got the right thing before promptly walking away. If you're looking forauthentic tapas you'd be better served elsewhere. If you're staying at the hotel and aren't spoiled by having previously hadreally good tapas you'll probably be ok. Read more
