Great venue to try some South American food other than the typical Mexican fare. Love the plantains, yuca fries, cuban... sandwiches... quite authentic. The atmosphere inside was classy. Service was ok, not the best, but not bad at all. Yucafrita yuca fries - so fresh! Yummy beyond potato fries. Not too enthralled by the mojo sauce. Tostones plantains mashed andfried. Looks like flowers. Sweet and yummy! The Cuban quite a delicious fare! With roasted pork, ham, cheese in yummy grilledbread. Seems a bit like a panini. Hubby loved it. House salad with steak The salad is very fresh, with thick slices ofcucumber, avocado and tomatoes. The steak ($9) topping was actually thinner than the veggie slices. A+ for the salad, and B forthe steak. A pleasant experience overall, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go back as long s I'm on keto. Read more

A different time, a different place, but the same wholesome food! I have fond memories of the original Cubinatas in downtown... Milwaukee. The location, the decor, & the atmosphere made it a real special destination spot for me. When I found out there wasa new, closer one, I was there on my 1st opportunity. We walked in and were invited to sit anywhere we liked. We (ultimately)chose a table inside and waited (kid u not) at least 7-10min before we were waited on or asked for drinks. It. Wasnt. That.Busy. Despite that, staff was friendly and accomodating. Even making a spiked Arnold Palmer for me on the fly. For apps, Iordered everything I really wanted to try: Plaintain platter was delicious, especially the hard strips combined with the guacor mojo sauces...mmmmm! Makin my mouth moist just thinkin about it! The Cubinatas Chicken Tenders were hefty, but a bit dry.The plaintain crust looked really promising but lacked any significant flavor. The chix/raisin empanadas were also good, butless flavorful than I remember. But the ground beef & cheese one was great! For entrees, the Macita Bowl was filling! ..crispypork strips with rice & beans & peppers! The bed of white rice and black beans had minimal flavor. But the crispy, hefty stripsof pork more than made up for that. The meat was bursting with enough flavor for the whole dish. I can only assume the rice &beans were made without much salt/seasoning on purpose so patrons could add their own...but there was also no salt/pepper on thetables! The cuban sandwich was delish...cant really go wrong there. The ribs were meaty, tender, & flavorful with the guava bbqsauce. But again, the rice and beans lacked any salt/seanoning. But the texture and taste of real quality meat & ingredients inevery bite of everything I had was ever-present. Thats what makes Cubinatas special! It truly tastes like home-cooking made withlove and with the best ingredients! Thats ultimately what I take away from every visit to Read more

I have been in Cuba and loved the food there. Here I could feel a little bit of Cuba's tasting. Try the ropa vieja and the... empanadas. The fried chicken with fries was to my kids, but the they were very good too. I haven't tried the drinks, but theylooked delicious. Maybe next time. I will be back to try a different menu. Read more

Upon googling and searching for new restaurants I discovered this place which I deeply regret. We decided to try this (new to... us) place and I must say we regret doing so. The food we purchased at Cubainitas has been the worst food I?ve purchased from arestaurant in a while. We ordered 2 ropa vieja meals as well as tostones and as you can see by the picture, the tostones wereburnt and disgusting. If you don?t know tostones are suppose to have more of a yellow color to them rather than the picturedburnt brown with black around the edges. I was appalled that these employees knowingly gave us burnt tostones. The rice washard yet kind of mushy at the same time. It tasted like they mixed a pot of undercooked hard rice with a pot of mushy rice. Ifthe rice was actually cooked properly it probably wouldn?t have been so bad. The ropa vieja (beef) was a small portion and hadan odd flavor. Not sure what it was but something we ate gave us a stomach ache. We paid over $44 for two ropa vieja meals witha side of tostones and we felt robbed and ripped off. Tonight was our first and last time buying food from this place. I reallywish I would have read some of the reviews prior to ordering from this place. Especially after reading a review stating thatthey saw a roach on the table they were seated at. Judging from what I tried, the food doesn?t taste authentic. The next time Iwant some real and authentic Cuban food I?d rather commute 25-30 minutes to the restaurant on the south side of Milwaukee thangoing here again. But hey maybe some of their other menu items aren?t so bad. Personally, the fact that they were okay withknowingly giving us burnt tostones and mushy yet hard rice gave me a bad 1st impression of the restaurant which definitely drovemy future business away. Our first time here and it was a pleasant experience. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, even though we sat... near the back of the restaurant. The bf & I each had a mojito, which were good but not very strong. We split a Cubano sandwich, which was a good idea, as it was large! It was very good though, not overly dressed or mushy. We had 2 empanadas: the Espinacacon Queso (spinach with cheese) and a Camarones con Queso (shrimp with cream cheese, red pepper & cilantro). The spinach waswell seasoned and plentiful. The sauce in the shrimp empanada was delicious and we both really liked it. Read more

We had a very wonderful evening this past Wednesday. Arrived at 6pm for Happy Hour and sat outside. The weather cooperated. The... Town Square was filling up with family/friends to listen to the band setting up on the far side of the square. Our exceptionalwaitress took our order and quickly served our first round of 50% off drinks (Happy Hour remember?). Prices of the food weremore then reasonable for the portions and flavor built into each dish. We loved everything that was ordered. Plantain platterwas shared and it was very good with the various dips. Coco Loco shrimp bowl! You will order it every time you visit. ElenaRuz sammie a big surprise. I always order extra sauces. The vibe?the food?the service, the excellent concert we were enjoyingand good friends?make everything extra especial. Read more
