I am a California native and was craving some chicken and waffles from Roscos or Lolos. Most places in the Chicago area are... serving Belgian style waffles and chicken ????. And i came across this location serving the traditional flat waffle. I gotexcited at the possibility of having a good replacement for Roscoes. Unfortunately they did miss the mark. I want to say thevibe was immaculate and the decor was very warm and classy. The service was a little slow. We were there for about 7 minutesbefore we met our waitress. The food came out fast. Almost too fast as if they might not have been freshly fried? It wasn’tpipping hot but it wasn’t cold or anything like that. It was totally fine but I am a bit skeptical that it was cooked thatquickly. So we got the half chicken for $32 which I felt was quite expensive but ok. Also got the red beans and rice and wafflesand scrambled eggs. Now the flavor of the chicken was good but one dimensional. The Cajun red beans and rice was missing somekey Cajun spice! I’m not convinced it contained the holy trinity or smoked ham hocks or turkey. The waffles were good, theyhad an interesting “chewiness” that reminded me of like a gluttonous rice flour. I’m not sure if that was international orif they were over beaten but I enjoyed them! All and all I wanted a good replacement for my chicken and waffles on the westcoast, although they missed the mark for me, there’s a good chance you will enjoy this place! Read more

-At a rate of 2$ per wingette I'd expect a better product. Not these "dinky" lil things (pic) -Was offered a 4$ discount then at... billing was told "hey I gotcha next time" lol -The Buffalo sauce is mediocre and very yellow. I give the sauce 3/5. Dobetter..... Read more

The place is nice and clean. This was my boyfriend and I first time here so we ate off each others plate. Chicken was really... good while the fish was bland with no seasoning. The red beans&rice was really good as well as the sweet potatoes. You can tellthe mc & cheese was made earlier in the day and just had been sitting out. It would of been good if they had warmed it up in theoven or even in the microwave. The corn bread was dry and a little hard. Read more

The food was amazing. Customer service fair. My server charged us for a kids meal when on Wednesdays kids eat free. Otherwise, I... enjoyed my fried fish, mac n cheese, greens, yams and corn bread. The others in my party got the traditional meal which waschicken with waffles. The fish was fried to perfection; crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Yum Yum, those wafflesare the best...buttery n soft,Ahhh!!! Each dish was cooked with love?? AND the ambience is superb - brick walls and dim lightswith a cool breeze. ( Bring a jacket) Read more

Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles is a family favorite in Oak Park. Menu offers their special crunchy breaded chicken along... with delicious waffles and sides that can't be beat. Kids love the portions and I enjoy the service, endless cup of Joe and thewings. Plates are shareable depending on hunger. Chicago's Home of Chicken and Waffles is family, wallet friendly and they allowBYOB. Give em a try, you won't be disappointed. Read more

This review has nothing to do with the taste of the food. The taste of the food was fine except for the rice...I think it was... Minute rice. My kids and I enjoyed the food for the most part. The waitress (Jessica) was ok and the manager that walked aroundwas ok too. This review is all about bad business practices. EVERYTHING ON MY BILL WAS HIGHER THAN IT WAS ON THE MENU...EVENTHE POP.....EVERYTHING!! After we ate and asked for the bill, the waitress came up to the table with this little handheldmachine and gave me my total. I had to ask her for a receipt. ???????? The receipt prices DID NOT match the menu prices. Theywere a few dollars more. ????????So now I understand why I had to ask for a receipt vs them just providing one. I asked her whythe prices were more and she said someone else mentioned it weeks ago and they are in the process of getting new menus printedor they had new menus printed and they hadn't been put out yet...ummm ????????. I didn't mind paying for my food but I do notlike the dishonesty that happened. This isn't good business practices and they are definitely getting over on people. If theprices are higher this needs to be stated prior to dining. And if not, the lower prices should be honored. Read more

This is my go to if I'm missing southern comfort/soul food. Their fried chicken is perfectly cooked every time I visit and it's... just lightly coated with flour. It's crunchy but closer to "naked" fried chicken which I can get behind. The hardest part isdeciding which sides to get. Good luck picking just 3! Mac and cheese, yams, collard greens, are all excellent choices. The onlything I'm not a fan of is the waffle itself. It doesn't stand up to the quality of the other food. Service is good. They takecare of you and you're generally served quickly unless it's a busy weekend dinner service. I've had to wave down a server acouple of times but I honestly don't mind it. I feel welcome and at home when I eat here. Read more
