Solid restaurant for breakfast. Plenty of options for those who have difficulty deciding on a meal. ;) I had the biscuits and... gravy + eggs. The gravy was thick, though somewhat bland given how much sausage accompanied it. And I grew up with the mealbeing strictly savory, so the biscuits being slightly sweet was not to my liking. That?s stylistic, though, so you might thinkotherwise. My partner had a vastly different dish, and they loved every bit of it. We had just enough time to eat some breakfast, but our schedule was tight. Our server was delightful because she held a great... conversation yet she managed to quickly attend to all her customers. My son got soup and a sandwich. He was not disappointed. Hetalked about the tasty soup on multiple occasions after, high praise from a 17 year old! I got the egg and hash browns. Delicious food and kind, quick service. Not much to ask for in a place to eat! Our waters and coffees were always topped off,... and we were checked on the perfect number of times. George's Family Restaurant is the perfect place for breakfast or lunch. Truly one of the last real diner's in Oak Park. Amazing... cooks, attentive staff and friendly greetings at the door. Menu is filled with breakfast favorites from simple toast and eggs tofruit based crepes. It's easy to pass over mainstays like waffles, corned beef hash and my favorite; 3 eggs, French toast andsausage. Kids will love the generous whipped cream and smiley pancakes. Adults will enjoy endless cups of coffee and hustlingwaitstaff. Saturday and Sunday's are busy so get there before 10 am to avoid the crowd. My experience at george?s was awful. Half of my group where people of color and we felt as though our service was drastically... different because of it. My party had to wait at least 20 minutes compared to the other white patrons around us, and when ourfood finally arrived it was inedible and disgusting. Then at the end of our meal we received the wrong bill, and when receivingthe correct bill and attempting to pay the owner of the restaurant tried to swindle us out of cash when paying!! Saying ?give meten dollars because it?s all messed up the way you?ve done it now?. Our experience with staff, was extremely unprofessional andracially motivated. Definitely will not be coming back. Everything looked so good, I couldn't wait to dive in but everything was Not good! ???? The steak skillet that I had I couldn't... even eat because the steak tasted funny and made me sick. To say the least it wasn't any good. My spouse and I didn't like thewaffles or pancakes. Canadian bacon was good though. The biscuits and gravy were ok. The food was just bland.
