I went to a date with a girl and their friends. I ordered pakoras, tandoori, Briyani and mango Lassi for 4 people. Ended up... sending $100+. The owner was most accommodating that it can be. I was surprised there were not many customers since we wentbefore 5pm. No regrets because this is only place in East Bay which has authentic Pakistani taste. I am literally fan of theirBriyani which has all the elements of Karachi Briyani. Read more

Went to A Pakistani place on university Avenue in Berkeley and was given ice cold lentils. I felt I was getting old food. So Itried this place. The reviews were spot on and I go here now. Long story short the food was okay and the service was really bad. The cook gave me the stink eye for 10 minutes from the... kitchen while my food sat cooling on the counter. My mango lasse had too much ice for my sensitive teeth and took up nearly athird of the cup. Additionally, when I went into place the order the dish was $4 more than the amount posted on thewindow. This seems to be a common thread downtown Oakland. Restaurants updating their menu prices and not updating their actualmenus. It feels deceptive. It should be corrected, especially since these new prices have been in place for a while... Read more

Dropped here for lunch. It was very quiet in the restaurant, but lots of pick ups. The staff was friendly and we got our order... in very quickly. The food was delicious. We got a butter chicken, lamb tiki masala, veggie biryani and some naan. I would saythat the highlight for me was the soft naan with lamb tiki masala. I would have gone without the meat in all honesty as thesauce was to die for. The veggie biryani was also very delicious. I was not sure when we ordered, but they did deliver. Willcome again for sure. Read more

4.5 stars. Excellent food, owner takes a little time warming up to you. We came here on a federal holiday evening so parking was... quite easy to get (street parking only). Got seated immediately. This is our first time and we were visiting from out of thebay, so we asked what he recommended and he curtly said, "read the menu!" We ended up ordering the goat and the chicken biryanisand the prawn karahi with a garlic naan and some tea to end the meal with. They were nice enough to tell us that the food willtake time. Turns out that preparation really helps as we were pleasantly surprised when the food came out quicker thananticipated. The biryanis were excellent! Good spice level, separated and colorful rice, well-cooked chicken and goat meat. Both biryanis had a homemade effect to them, which I absolutely adored!! The prawn karahi was more oily than I appreciate butthe flavor and spice level was excellent! I would still recommend doing chicken or goat/lamb for the karahi, the prawns don'texactly fit with the karahi concept. With the garlic naan, the karahi was super yummy! The tea was ok but I like a certain kindof tea, which pretty much no one except my mother and I make, so I wasn't surprised. Quantities were decent. Definitely lastingthe two of us for two meals. All in all, I was very happy with the food with the exception of the oil in the karahi. The ownerdid warm up to us through the course of our meal and we left on really good terms. Will definitely recommend them to whoevergoes to Oakland. Read more
