Food is authentic with large portion sizes. Good for sharing. Comes with a limited kimchi banchan and tea. Small size chicken... is sufficient. Closed Tuesdays space available weekday lunch. Read more

My cousin recommended this place as we were in the area. This small restaurant is located at Koryo Village in Oakland. They have... indoor & few outdoor seatings.\n\nWe ordered #14 Chili Kkan-pung-gi (small), #15 soy & garlic Kkan-pung-gi, #4 Jjam-Jja-Myeon,and #10 fried rice. The service was pretty fast (we got our food in about 15 minutes after ordering).\n\n- #10 fried rice:generous portion! The fried rice itself was delicious! The Jajang sauce really complemented the rice and not toooverpowering.\n\n- #4 jjam-jja-myeon: I LOVE this idea of having half jjam-bong & half ja-jang-myeon. I usually like jajangmyeon more than jjambong, but I actually love the jjambong taste more here. The soup is just delicious but it was quite spicy. There were plenty of seafood fillings (squid, mussels, etc) too. The jajang myeon sauce is the same as the sauce on the friedrice and it was delicious! My only complaint was the noodle on both dishes was too soft for me. I prefer a bit firmer texturebut overall, this was a good dish!\n\n- #15 soy & garlic kkanpunggi: the portion was generous as it came with 7 big chickenpieces. It had crunchy coating and yet the meat was tender. When I got into the middle part of a really big piece, I noticedthat the meat inside was bland. Luckily, they gave lots of sauce so I could slather my chicken. Delicious!\n\n- #14 chilikkanpunggi: again, the portion of big chicken pieces was generous. I expected the chili would give lots of heat but it was mildfor me. The spicy sauce lacked of gochujang taste. Not my favorite but the meat was tender & the coating was crispy.\n\nNote:the kkanpunggi that I know is chinese-korean fried chicken with sweet & sour sauce. The kkanpungki that they have is more likekorean fried chicken slathered with sauce.\n\nOverall, they have delicious food and I\'ll drop by if I want Korean food whenI\'m in the area. Read more

So I\'ve been eating a lot of Korean food lately! Must be from watching all those Korean dramas and watching the actors and... actresses eating during the show! Just kidding!\n\nI love jajamyeon ???(black bean paste, diced pork, vegetables) andjjampong?? (spicy seafood noodle soup). Gangnam (Oakland) does this very well and is able to put both comforting dishes into oneseparately! And I never say no to fried chicken???? Maybe afterwards, I\'ll catch up on my K-Drama????? Fried chicken was so delicious. Crispy outside moist inside, what’s more to ask for! Ordered the honey cheese & soy garlic,... which I liked them. Although I think it could be more garlicky ???? Japchae was homemade, Haha Read more

Their GanJaJang is absolutely amazing, the taste is rich & the portion is good. I espacially love the yellow radish, that really... goes well with it! Now their KFC is the star of the meal, even my little one loves it. So soft & flavorful, no wonder the placeis packed. Read more

New business (used to be Koryo Jajang up until Dec 2021), new owner, new interior (very nice and modern compared to old ghetto... tables & chairs) and a very similar menu. The honey cheese fried chicken was amazing. The batter was perfectly crisp. It wasboth yummy and delicious.\n\nNow the bad part, the Jajang was too runny, wasn\'t flavorful (no black bean ompf to it nor umami),did have salt but not in a complimenting way. When it used to be Koryo Jajang, the sauce at least had the umami and starchyprofile although it tasted very bland. Hopefully this new business improves their signature dish soon.\n\nIn the meantime, Iwill continue picking up Kim\'s Jajang sauce and noodle from Koreana Plaza for my jajang addiction instead.
