The sushi itself was pretty good. But we ordered pickup. They told us it would be ready at 6:30pm. But they said to wait in... the car and they would text me when it was ready. I arrived at 6:20pm and waited for the text. No text. At 6:40pm I went inthe store and saw my order on the counter. Turns out it had been there since 6:20pm. I asked why they didn't text me like theysaid they would. "We're busy and didn't have time." They actually were not very busy at all. The soup and other items werecold. If you say you're going to do something (like texting someone) then do it. This was lame. Read more
First time visiting VIP and could not have been happier! The service was prompt (even though they were busy), our server was... attentive and courteous, and the food was AMAZING. Best sushi around, and the filet mignon was out of this world good. We have anew favorite restaurant in town! Read more
We wanted sushi, we wanted to like it & we wanted to support local small business. When we got there for our reservations the... counter was filled with to go orders. First the appetizers, 2 of 3 came out, 3rd did not, had to ask for it, 20 minutes or soafter the first 2 came out. (the young 16 or so yr old waitress was left to tend the whole dining room.) Then the main course,after an hour & half wait, one came out & we waited another 10 minutes for the next main dish. It was a step (A STEP) abovePick & Save sushi for well over double the price. Had to ask for soup & salad twice, that came out AFTER the second maindish. We get it carry-out has been your go to for the past couple years & you only recently opened your dining room back up,BUT COME ON, IT WAS LIKE A SLAP IN THE FACE. YOU WAIT WHILE WE KEEP COOKING CALL-IN/to go ORDERS. It was the worst $130 buckswe ever spent. Will never go back there again! Go to Sabai Sabai for a better roll, a better drink & better service, or MetroMarket/Pick & Save. Disappointing date night. Read more
Visited this place on Sunday after church. This place was really empty and had maybe two other couples there. We have tried many... of the other Sushi places in southeast Wi and liked this one the best so far. We ordered fairly simple rolls and deep friedOconomowoc roll. It was all great tasting and you can tell they use far fresher ingredients than their competitors. I wouldreally reccomend this place for a romantic evening or even during the work week at lunch for Sushi. That's what they do best! Read more
I decided to give this restaurant a second chance after my first experience of dining in. Unfortunately the results were the... same. The sushi was extremely disappointing. I have had sushi all over the United States so my review is based upon manyexperiences some outstanding and others not so much. VIP Sushi is in my opinion not worthwhile. I ordered a spicy yellowtailroll, the fish was dry, no flavor and had some type of crunchy bread crumb which I have never had in this type of roll. Therewas no spicy sauce drizzled on top. Nothing spicy about it and the crunchy crumbs triggered my gluten sensitivity. Also ordered3 basic types of sushi, the salmon, tuna and yellowtail. The salmon and tuna were bland, lacking in flavor and it was difficultto tell the 2 apart, the yellowtail tasted fishy. The rice in the roll and sushi was overly sticky and gummy. I wasdisappointed and needless to say I won't be returning. My meal cost $28. The quest to find great sushi continues... Read more
