Our server, Bri was very attentive and the cocktails were wonderful! Alex, the supervisor on duty was very friendly and made... sure we were properly taken care of. The food was amazing! If you are looking for that fine dining experience in the Odessa areathen look no further than Barrell & Derrick Restaurant. Chef Rakeem’s Special were very satisfying. Booked a reservation tonight with my family. The service was horrible took a while for someone to come to the table. We ordered... drinks and asked for water instead of bringing out the water and soft drink first the waitress made our alcoholic drinks firstand that took around ten minutes and then she brought the drinks and forgot the other ones we had to ask another person to bringus water. One person got ice tea and she asked for lemon and it was never brought out we had to ask again and the person whobrought it out had a really smug look on his face after. We got two appetizers the shrimp was good but the crab drip was superwatery and did not have a lot of flavor. The food was good. The waitress was not very attentive never checked on us and ask ifwe needed anything. Had to ask multiple times if we could have a refill while the staff stood in the corner and talked. This establishment has great atmosphere very simple menu for lunch or dinner. But the best thing to me was the smoked brisket... hash seasoned great everything went together vegetables brisket was tender great breakfast. Read more

While searching for a nice Sunday brunch with mimosas, we were pleasantly surprised to find Barrel & Derrick inside of the... Marriot hotel. This location is amazing one of the nicest outdoor dining areas in either Odessa or Midland. The food wasdelicious. The menu changes pretty often which makes coming back a new adventure each time. What a let down... We’ve been looking forward to enjoying this fine dining restaurant for months now. At first glance, it was... kind of odd that such a new facility was already having signs of wear. The booth we sat in already had stains on the cushion.The menus had foods stains and the drink menu looked to be reused from some other time and place. Not to be deterred, we wentahead and ordered apps and drinks. To our surprise, we were informed that the cappuccino machine was down. Puzzling since theyhaven’t been open long. But okay. 30 minutes pass... Now our absentee server has made an appearance and asked if we’d liketo place our main order or wait for our appetizers. We ordered. She also comes back to refill our drinks and proceeds to fill acup with water that had initially held sprite. Rookie mistake. But also forgiven since we were enjoying ourselves. The appscame 40mins after sitting and the main course soon after. The food was beautifully cooked. Presentation was immaculate.However, the most important mark of flavor was sorely missed. The food was severely under seasoned. We had to ask for salt andpepper to make the food palatable. The temperature of the foods was also room temperature. Disappointed to say the least. Foralmost $150 for two, we expected MUCH MORE. Foods ordered: wagyu carpaccio, shrimp tempura (very good), onion soup, elote,broccolini, Brussel sprouts (tasty), scallops, 10oz steak, and half bird. We’ll try again in a few months and hope for abetter result. The server we had was very inattentive. Other passing servers checked on us more often, refilled our drinks andcleared our dishes. We ended up going next door to Starbucks for some coffee. Also turned out that the cappuccino machinewasn’t “down”, but no one there knew how to use it. Thanks for the transparency. Read more
