Disappointed really with the menu as they did not have much Mexican food as advertised. They had exactly two items: Tri-tip... nachos and a cauliflower taco entree which they claimed were Mexican. The rest of the food was American but nothing special wecared for anyway. Visited Ojai for the weekend and came to this local spot twice ! Wh friendly staff and you can definitely tell that everyone was... a local. Being from o it of town I thought I would feel awkward, but everyone is friendly. Great priced beer and their JalapeñoMargaritas are delicious. Great place to come and hang ! Read more
My colleague's and I had a lunch break during our work conference at the Ojai Valley Inn and one of them highly recommended we... go to the Ojai Deer Lodge for lunch. It was an excellent suggestion. The lodge is situated right off a main road with parkingout front. There was a nice side courtyard with outdoor seating and ample seating in the rustic lodge. We decided to sitoutside and enjoy the sun and fresh air. I would highly recommend that. The menu selection of food was very diverse at veryreasonable prices. I ordered the wild salmon on wild rice with asparagus. The portion was very of good size and the price- just$26. Overall I would definitely recommend stopping by and checking out the lodge. Although we didn't eat inside I did get aquick tour. There was a small music stage, amazing decor of large antler chandeliers and a bar with a wide range of spirits. Iwould say it would be fun to come here in the evening. So come check this place out! Read more
We had absolute amazing service from the bartender. She was nice kind and very joyful. I had a pulled pork sandwich. I must say... it was amazing . Also, must try their Mac and cheese , it's on another level. I would definitely recommend it to everyoneplanning on heading up the 33 , like my dad used to say , gotta fill up every tank before you hit the road jack. Read more
My friend and I were on our way to Ventura via Ojai from Bakersfield. We smelled Ojai Deer Lodge before we saw the place off of... 33. The aroma of the smoked meats enamored us immediately and had to stop. We both got the special of the day which was theBreakfast Sandwich and split an order of the Bacon mac and cheese!The sandwich was wonderful with the egg yolk still runny andthe Habanero aioli really brought the plate to life. Can't do this review without giving kudos and props to our server Susan.She was so delightful, authentic and on top of everything! I can't say much about the Deer Lodge. It was my place back in the 70s, 80s. Then it was the best place ever. From Ojai locals... like me to bikers and anyone who loves Ojai like I do and always will. When I was there recently the prices were sky high!Service stuffy and all it's original flare gone according to me! Ojai itself has gone to Los Angeles ways. So anyone expecting aquaint artistic and spiritual place it's not longer there. Bring a big wallet and be ready to spend and get ready for trafficfrom hell.. Read more
