What a vibe! First time to Rory’s and we’ll definitely be back. Interior was bustling and felt like someone’s home (in a... good way - cozy, welcoming, fun). Loved watching staff behind the bar and cooking in the pizza oven. Everyone was super friendlyand accommodating. Food was incredible! We ordered the tuna tartare, ouef mayo, herb salad, steak, and duck confit for 2 peopleand it was the exact right amount of food. 10/10, but the steak was the star of the show - so flavorful and cooked to mediumperfection. Lovely natural wine list including orange wine, and cocktails were well balanced with unique flavor combos. TheHello Satan was a twist on a passionfruit margarita flavors, but smokey and herby with mezcal and cilantro oil, served up in acoup. Excited to come back in summer and enjoy their back patio. Don’t be fooled with their dinner menu and service, they almost have nothing in their lunch menu. Ordered checkin liver pate... with sourdough and a pickle but the only thing I could eat was the pickle and Bread. How was the east of coffee? Do you like it?For coffee:it’s OK it’s just ok. Read more
We really enjoyed our meal! The service was fast, accurate, and friendly. The plates were very well plated and meticulously... arranged. While the wine list was extensive, I find it interesting (and a little disappointing) that in a restaurant in themiddle of wine country the only wines offered by the glass were from Europe. There are a lot of great things about Rory's Place. The first being the Crudo. It was perfectly curated for the flavors to... pop. The hearth bread and feta, fresh halibut, melon & prosciutto, fries, fennel salad. I love this place so much. The entiremenu is so well curated with a variety of delicious options. This is a great restaurant! We loved the oysters, Avo/citrus salad, wedge salad, grilled asparagus and clams. The gnocchi... wasn’t worth getting. I wish they had a soup or gazpacho on the menu. They need some vegan options! The service wasexcellent! Get there when they open, because it fills up and get busy fast. Must have a reservation. Don’t try to do a walkin. Sat in the patio. Inside seems too loud and dark. Super good cocktails. Overall 5 stars for a new Ojai GEM! Read more
Finally tried Rory's for the first time since they opened this last January. Cute restaurant very good decor. The food is... locally sourced and all made and prepared in house which you can tell by the taste and presentation of the entrees. Service isfair not amazing not bad. Service could step. Servers were a little bland and missed things like a shell dish for your clams,calcium deposits on the water carafes, wobbly tables ( it's the small touches that make for elegant dining). As for the food, itwas tasty just small portions for two people we tried 2 apps, 1 salad, and two entrees. I was still hungry when we left. Theywere packed when we were there and usually are most nights. Good for them. Try it if you haven't already. Read more
