I had the absolute pleasure of stopping by the restaurant this evening with my son. I pass each day and think about going in and... today we did. Everything I ate was INCREDIBLE!!! I had the Dawnster (turkey) and fries. My son had the cheeseburger and fries. Ialso sampled the fried catfish, fried chicken, pecan caramel cake, and peach cobbler. I do not often purchase mac and cheesefrom restaurants because I like the baked version, but their mac and cheese was exquisitely done. Very, very good. Thejazz-berry tea is so good. If you haven't visited the Kitchen, you are missing out on amazing food. I will make the u-turn moreoften. To top off the experience, the staff was so friendly and the owner greeted us personally to ask about our experience.Such a good experience overall. Check them out and you will not be disappointed. Coming through on our way back home to Southern Missouri. Wanted to try Florence's or Mama E's but both closed. Googled for... best soul food near me and this option came up. Was not disappointed! Buttery cabbage was delicious! Better than my Mom's, sorry Mama! My mom was a great cook. My husband had the black eyed peas with his meal and they were also delicious. Mostrestaurants focus on the main courses but real tasty side dishes are a bonus. Couldn't decide between shrimp and cheesy grits orthe fried chicken. The girl at the register said the fried chicken was the best so got that. ???? just like my Mom's, so sogood. They mistakenly gave me a thigh instead of breast but brought me one so then I had even more to enjoy. Great place. Thecloth napkins and silverware is a nice touch. Read more

Today was my first time ordering here. I'm a caregiver and me and my client eat out often for lunch. So I was looking for... something new to try. And I'm glad I did! Everything was delicious. First time eating here today and i must say everything was AMAZING!!!! I ordered the catfish with greens,yams,mac n cheese,... cabbage and pound cake. The yams were some of the best yams I?ve ever had!!! The cake was die for!!!! I will definitely be backhere at least 3 times this week!!! What a nice experience I had at The Kitchen. I ordered the catfish dinner. I must say, it was off the scale. 1st its real... catfish not swai. The fillet was a nice size, seasoned & cooked to perfection. The cabbage was crisp & not cooked to death. Theyams will melt in your mouth. The atmosphere was clean & pleasant. This restaurant is awesome. Not only is the place clean and professional, the food is superb. I was so hungry I started eating... before I could get some pics. I ordered 3 wings, greens, yams and peach cobbler. Oh and a delicious Blueberry Lemonade. Theportions were right on time. The owner was very nice and I could see her strong leadership among staff while she worked besidethem, literally. The music was also soothing and the decor was well put together. Fresh off the grill cooking. Prices were reasonable for a home cooked meal. Steak was well seasoned and vegtables were fresh. I... had not eaten a twice baked potatoe in a while and it was so worth it...skin and all...The shrimp was cooked with white wine andwas so plumpaliciously fresh. I liked seeing my food being cooked with flames in the back. Place was clean, prices werereasonable and food was excelent! Great place to try! And they have drive thru you order at the window.
