PRICE IS UP / QUALITY IS DOWN Once upon a time, this was a great restaurant. In the 80's, 90's and 2000's this was an unmatched... place for Chinese food in the area. However, the place has really gone downhill in the last 4-5 years specifically. There mustbe new owners or management to have such a decline? For example, our family recently attended a buffet smorgasbord (which wehave many times over the years) and for 6 adults and 6 youths/children aged 4-14, the meal came to just over $300!! The 10-11year olds were charged the same price of an adult!?? The rice was mushy and salty, meat was hard & chewy...it was not good ATALL. I would strongly advise against the Big Rock Inn, after being a happy customer for 30+ years our last few visits there werea shame. Read more

Well clearly under new management. But this is a competitive business and customer service is critical. The young lady who... helped me was TERRIBLE. In a rush. Practically threw the glass of water down on the table. I stopped and spoke to the owner. Iam guessing the mother and explained that the young woman helping needed to slow down and smile and take her time. Maybe takethe phone out of he back pocket as this screams I am expecting a call when I?m done with YOU. Sorry I used to come here all thetime for the sizzling rice. We came for a second time to this place drove from Calgary to come as the first time we went the food was good and service was... awesome. This time the food was cold and the meat was so dried you could not even chew it. And the server had a blue tooth inher ear wand was having a personal conversation in her language the whole time she was serving customers. We found this so veryunprofessional and dismissive. Big Rock is our go to for a solid western Chinese buffet! We've never had take out so I can't speak to that. Buffet is always... hot and fresh and I love the selection of chow mein and veggie dishes available, and I'm a big fan of the won ton soup (whoisn't?!). During the many many years I've been going there have only been very very rare occasions that they haven't been up totheir usual standards. Staff have always been friendly and attentive.
