We went there for Thanksgiving dinner. The food was hot and well seasoned. We got the meatloaf and smothered pork chops with... greens, beans, and Mac n cheese. It was SO good! The three stars is for the EXCELLENT customer service, theyreallymadeusfeelwelcome. We went there for a date night, I ordered... the fried ribs, yams and fried cabbage. My wife ordered catfish, greens and Mac and cheese. My ribs were crispy (just the way Ilike it), tender (just the way I like it), but lacked seasoning and flavor the fried cabbage was very spicy (I couldn't eatit, because I don't like spicy), the yams we good. My family and I came in town from Florida, Ohio, Maryland, and Massachuttes--had big appetites...this place did not disappoint... us! Huge plates of country fried chicken, country fried steak, collard greens, cabbage, mac-n-cheese, corn bread....everythingwas fantastic! I visited Erma Jean's about 4 or 5 years ago. The food wasn't great. My daughter had the chicken. She said it wasn't seasoned.... My husband had smothered chicken. The chicken just had gravy poured on top. And it wasn't homemade. I've heard it's gotten muchbetter. Maybe I'll give it another try. Thinking about going today. IDK... Read more

First, the good: The Mac and cheese was great! The chicken did taste good (all wings though), and, even though the chicken... fried steak looked more like smothered steak in brown gravy, it tasted okay. Now the bad: When you order a fried chicken meal,you expect to get more than chicken wings. I was thinking maybe a thigh, leg and wing, or a breast, wing, and leg, but threechicken wings? Really? The fact that they tasted good only made me want to try a thigh or a breast even more! Wings are likethe appetizers of the chicken. By themselves, their good if you want Wing Stop, but in a fried chicken meal, you need more thanwings! The other thing is the chicken fried steak looked nothing like the picture. It didn't look like chicken fried steak atall. On the picture,I saw country gravy on top of golden fried steak. What we got look smothered in dark brown gravy. It wasfried at one time, but it was more if a soggy mess. The breading all fell off into a soggy pile and the meat was not even cubesteak. It looked like sliced round that you get for carne asada. I took a picture of it. Honestly, it tasted okay. If theytold me I ordered smothered steak, I'd believe it, but that's not what I ordered. Went to Erma Jeans today for lunch. Had fried Catfish, Rice and Beans, French fries. Everything was outstanding. As we were... paying our bill, Jake ask us if we tried his Fried Chicken Wings, I hadn't so he sent us home with some. Wish they were closer to Yuba City bc the food is just AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! First time trying southern food. The portions are so... HUGE that we had leftovers for the next day! The oxtail, fried chicken and meatloaf was cooked to perfection. The Smotheredchicken was slightly salty but still good. Mashed potatoes and corn bread were the best but I think they forgot to add cornbread to each plate (ordered takeout) only one of our plates had the corn bread, which is fine. We had ordered extra corn breadwhich was enough for a family of 6. The Mac and cheese was one of my favorites, so yummy. I will definitely come back when I'mcraving some more Southern food! Read more
