For our first time trying Zen, I?ll give it a 5 star review. We came here for date night tonight on a Wednesday night and it... was perfectly not crowded. The host greeted us quickly, sat us, and we got our drink orders pretty immediately I ordered an eelroll because when I asked the waiter about the raw sushi rolls that are wrapped in radish/cucumber rather than rice and seaweedhe said it was only a special roll? Whatever that means I also ordered shrimp hibachi dinner while my husband ordered the NYstrip dinner. We decided to dine in rather than sit around the hibachi area The restaurant was beautiful inside, highceilings, clean, and modern with bar seating and sushi bar seating When I got the eel roll, the first thing I noticed was howthere was barely any eel in there compared to other sushi restaurants I?ve been to (which has been all over the states). But itdid taste pretty fresh so next time I?ll dine in just for sushi and will update my review The hibachi dinner was great. Itwasn?t super salty like other hibachi restaurants. I felt like my husband?s steak was a bit over cooked but he enjoyed hismeal Besides the skimping out on eel, the only problem I had was waiting longer than usual for our hibachi dinner to come out.I was expecting our food to be nice and hot but it was actually partially cold like it was sitting in the back for a bit Wewere starving so at this point we were scarfing our food down. What superb food and drinks. A bit on the pricier side but every bite and every sip was well worth it. From the moment you walk... in and take in the floral wall you will eyeballs will be pleased by the ambiance. Show up with an empty stomach because the foodservings will fill you up. Read more
Our new date night spot!!! Our amazing server was fantastic, the food was absolutely delicious and the presentation was... gorgeous! We felt welcomed, everyone on the staff was positive and happy. I told my Fiance that this is the best spot I've beento in Auburn hands down. I spent 15 years in the restaurant industry and from the ambiance, presentation, staff, and overallexperience I have to say I was blown away! Thank you Zen! Read more

Every so weekend I would visit here and they would never disappoint. Today I ordered what I always get the ?Chicken Fried Rice?.... The service was super nice and quick, I looked at other reviews and was sad that some thought this place wasn?t good. I think ?Zen? improve every time I go there. 10/10!!! We?ve been to zen steak and sushi twice now and both times we had the hibachi table to ourselves (once a group of... three, another time a group of five). The hibachi chef & waiters always go above and beyond. By far the best hibachi restaurantin auburn/Opelika (we?ve tried them all!). Huge portions for a very reasonable price. Soup, salad, hibachi meat of choice, rice,veggies, noodles, and 2 shrimps are all included! Fried rice here is like twice the serving of rice anywhere else. Sushi is sofresh and flavorful. Fantastic sushi, good pricing and a clean, beautiful restaurant! The chef knew how to make good food and was very friendly, even... made suggestions based on my tastes! Even though they were busy with online orders all night my food was timely and I was madeto feel very welcome. Will definitely be returning here at another time. Read more
