Small place with a modern version of Mexican food. Food was not bad but not overwhelming either.

Mexican modern, basically fancy mexican food meaning higher prices for fancy dishes. The food was great, however the dishes... were quite expensive. The "chips" and salsa were just store bought tostadas! I felt like a broke college kid eating tostadas aschips. Very big Tequila selection, not enough beer options. They dont split the check for large groups, we asked before westarted ordering. Understandable if the place was busy but some of the servers could have helped us out. I'd visit again if Iwant to feel like im eating in an upscale Downtown LA restaurant. Birthday boy got his steak served cold in themiddle. Service and servers were very friendly and nice. Great spot to try some different and new food. Not a place to go ifyou are looking for authentic mexican food. Good place to impress a date or for a small family group outing. TL;DR - expensivefancy food and drinks - basic tostadas as chips - small beer selection - unique food looks and taste great?????????? - no splitchecks, get your venmo and zelle ready Read more

Anepalco was one of the first restaurants I stopped at when I moved back to OC. Their atmosphere, ambiance, and overall... presentation at the Chapman location are fire. They’re primarily known for their chilaquiles, which I highly recommend ifit’s your first time. Also, if you’re looking for a thirst-quenching Non-alcoholic drink, try their agua frescas. However, yesterday I decided to go a little heavy and try their Torta Cubana. Much different than what I usually have, but again, theynever disappointed me. Try it for yourself! Read more

Took my Fiance here for his birthday and brought our pooch along since she's family. Dog patio friendly, the waiter was very... nice, not annoyingly checking in, but they could have checked on the table elsooner to remove excess plates to make room for thefood. Also they only had 1 heater on the patio but could have fit 3 to make everyone comfortable. Also the way the table chipsare served should be revised especially consider the outside tables how they have wholes. The wine was delish, we even ordered 1cocktail each. The Spicy Flaca was very good with a kick thr palomita was fuerte! But good. We had bone marrow sopes and thepulpo appetizers. I had the duck he had the stuffed chille relleno. ????No complaints to the chef. We ended with coconut pannecotta it was the perfect ending Read more

Food was very good, especially the ahi tostada and ceviche. Service was friendly but slow; they seem to be short staffed (isn't... everyone). Looking forward to our next visit, still lots of intriguing menu items yet to explore. Read more

The brunch food here was amazing! But the wait was not. Our group of five waited 40 minutes to be seated despite arriving only... 15 minutes after opening at 11am, so definitely recommend reservations. Additionally, food took another 50 minutes to come out, probably because there was another large party ahead of us. For a leisurely brunch that's fine, but if you're in a hurry thisdefinitely isn't the place for you. As for the food, every dish looked and tasted excellent. Presentation, flavors, and texturewere all spot on with the chilaquiles divorciados that I ordered, with runny eggs and just a little crunch in the chips. Housemade tortillas were colorful and delicious. Coffee service was generous as we waited. Cochinta pibil, Chile relleno and regularchilaquiles my friends ordered also looked amazing and I'd definitely want to come back here sometime and try more dishes. Butnext time, I'll make reservations. Read more

The two of us hit this spot just after it opened on a Friday at 5pm. Tasty salsas & house-made tortillas were a nice addition to... the crispy fried calamari and the Tacos Al Pastor and Barbacoa. Between the two the Al Pastor was the best despite not havingmuch of a achiote flavor. The house margaritas were delicious. I'd go back but be wary if you are a large group - some friendshad a special occasion at this venue and the service/food did not match up with our experience at all. Read more
