Great food and people. Small towns have a caring and connected feeling. We always stop here after walking the local trails.

This local icon is a 50s style drive in with an eclectic menu and friendly staff. The interior is full of period décor if you... prefer a soda shop experience. The prices were reasonable and service prompt. It’s worth the trip just for the homemade rootbeer! Our kids both loved their chicken strips and hamburger kids meals. We went traditional with the cheeseburgers, but thereare other interesting items like gyros, tacos, philly cheesesteak and Chicago Hot dogs. Save room for the large selection ofice cream! Read more

Firstly, our family has always loved Jays and we wish the new owners great success. We also know it takes some time to get... things “tweaked” when you first begin a business. I have been stopping in weekly and some times bi-weekly. Love theirmushroom burgers and Ashby’s ice cream especially. Last week we had 2 of these great burgers. Yesterday not. One mushroomburger had 3 mushrooms on it and the other one had maybe 4. No comparison of what they had been. The large order of fries wereall limp.. greasy. Not like we had gotten before. And the Ashby’s ice cream cones every single week .. some times twice a weekI pick up were dripping before I even had one lick. This could be an easy fix. Turn the cooler temp down a notch or 2. Theynever were that way before. I usually order a whole quart every other week but will not do that until the ice cream is not sosoft. Once again I hope the new owners get “tweaking” a few of these things that mean alot to customers because Jays can beawesome and I want to give them the 5 stars! Good luck to them! Read more

This is such a fun, nostalgic place that is great for everyone of all ages. Dine in or pull up outside and experience the car... hops. The food is great and the ice cream and root beer is phenomenal. Afterwards, walk it all off by the nearby Rock River.Stop by and try it, I promise you will want to go back. Read more

Stopped for ice cream at Jay's Drive In after a day of Model A Ford back road touring, we had a fairly large group but our... orders were filled quite fast and several of our group were amazed at the size of the portions they ordered! The staff is veryfriendly and the decor is just plain fun. This is a fun family place for the best ice cream creations. If you're in the areastop by and enjoy.... Read more

We went to Jay's Drive-in tonight and were very disappointed in the food and service. When we got there it didn't appear to be... that busy, but we had to wait about 5 minutes from when we pushed the button to order and when they actually took our order. From when we ordered and when we received our food it was 1 hour. After waiting about 45 minutes I repushed the button to askwhat was going on with our order however they never responded to that so I called on the phone and after waiting 15 minutes onhold I asked what was going on with our order to which she said it just came up and she was on the way out with it. She finallycame out with our order which totaled just a few cents shy of $25 I asked if it was normal to take an hour to get you order andshe said it was because they had 2 new cooks they were training. When we opened our food every single bit of it was ice cold soit had been obviously sitting on a counter for who knows how long. Most of the food went straight in the trash. I would havegiven this place 1 star but we ate there a couple years ago and it was much better then so I know they are capable of better. The parking was plentiful and convenient to get into but it is my suggestion if they take a long time to take your order goelsewhere.
