The Team Gary review on here from 9 months ago is spot on. My chicken was fried too long so it was a bit hard and burnt ????... Mac and cheese could?ve used some seasoning in my own personal opinion; It was decent but it definitely look/taste like out of abox instead of homemade. I had to hook it up w some salt&pepper. And to be completely honest I didn?t even give the greens achance because they looked like glory greens from the can and the Mac already tasted like it was boxed mac. Thats fine if it isbox/canned food, it just wasn?t what I was expecting especially from a ?black owned? restaurant. My small fountain drink wasalmost $3. But I?d give them another chance. I am a native of Rochester, NY where ?the Birdland? way of making wings, ribs, and wedges became the only way for me and my... tastebuds. I moved to Florida three years ago and I?ve craved the wings. Finally my tastebuds are satisfied. Dexters Birdlandgave me the authenticity and experience that only comes from ?the Birdland!? The food was everything. I had the wings, withwedges and macaroni salad. My friend had the ribs with wedges and macaroni and cheese. DELICIOUS. I?m excited that they offerfried fish as well as Soul Food Sundays (oxtails, pork chops etc). If you are in the Orlando area and you need food marinated toperfection and all around delicious. Please support Dexter?s Birdland. If your a Rochesterian living in the Orlando area- getthere- it?s a little piece of home. FYI the wedges should be dipped in the sauce, no need for ketchup. I went for Brunch on a Sunday. The food was great Nice atmosphere very clean and very friendly I would recommend to Floridians... and visitors they have music and on Fridays & Saturdays live music. They open at 11 am. Read more
Good homestyle food choices. Went with $7 lunch special "Hot Dog Garbage snack size". Diced potato wedges topped with grilled... hotdog, cheese, Hamburger crumbles and diced onion. Side of macaroni salad. Overall it was good, hot, and filling. The burgermeat had a few hard bone pieces and I didn't prefer the flavor of macaroni salad. Next time I will try the fried chicken or fishand collard greens or mac-n-cheese. Read more
Superb establishment owned by an HBCU grad (Wilberforce) and we (Tuskegee alum) were recuperating from our homecoming activities... and put the bat signal out about a spot to get some good food and FAMU/FSU alum told us about Dexter's Birdland. The chickenwas seasoned to perfection; the greens reminded me of my uncle's; the ribs fell off the bone; the potato wedges were perfectlyprepared; then the secret bbq sauce was on point!
