I had started playing hockey as an adult in 2019. Lauren and her group in the ASHL 101 program are top notch. I learned so much... and grew as a player and would highly recommend it to anyone in Durham. Great program with great staff that care about thesport. Been doing the 5 on 5 for a few summers now at this location ..First time we had to go out and buy our own jerseys .last year... we got Jerseys and hats for the kids paid the same price .My bet is they will blame Covid .We picked up 12 Jerseys in 3 daysfrom a local supplier in sporting goods. I would pass by this place all the time and had no idea how much they have going on all year long. I highly reccomend trying... their beach volleyball. I've never really played any sports but I tried it and i loved it! It's so much fun. It's beginnerfriendly and has options for more experienced players. They also have a really nice patio which you can just eat and have drinkswith a beautiful view. Or hang out inside, and watch a game on the tvs. The staff has always been friendly and helpful too. I'm writing this review while sitting at a table in the restaurant. I've been sitting here for 20 minutes and not a single... person has offered me a menu or asked if I'd like anything. Not even the waitress who's walked around me more than a dozentimes. I wish I could say this is a rare occurrence, but sadly it's not. I'm here once or twice every week. And I have yet tohave good service (I'm talking decent, not exceptional). Unless I walk over to the bar and ask for a menu, I get completelyignored. I find this frustrating because I'll be sitting by myself for more than an hour and I could easily polish off a fewpints and a plate of food while I watch my bf's hockey game. But that won't happen, because no one actually cares to serve me.Maybe it's because I'm the wrong gender. Maybe the ladies assume I won't order enough to be worth their time because I don'tlook like the beer slugging hockey players who come up for pints after. But actually, I'm a generous tipper and a good patron; Itend to order apps, entrées and more than one round of drinks plus, I'll order for my boyfriend when he wraps up on the ice. Idon't ask for much and I rarely make complaints. For months, I gave this place the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the servers arehaving a bad day, or it's been busy and they need a breather. But week in and week out, I'm so disappointed and I get so annoyedwhen I leave. I wish I didn't have to come back every week but I'm here anyway, and in the time it took me to write this, Istill haven't been approached by anyone with any interest to take my order. They need to heat this place. Freezing everywhere. The bar upstairs ignores you unless you buy food. Ordered a coke and finished... it. The guy who ordered the nachos next to me was asked if he wanted a refill. And I was totally ignored. Never asked. Left $3on the table.
