I stopped here on a snowy March afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was spotlessly clean and the burger and fries were... excellent. The service was slightly perfunctory--there were no place settings at my table, and no one offered water, and therewas only one late refill on my coffee. The Patriot Grill seems to do a busy take-out business. The decor is heavily flag-based.There is even flag imagery in the bathroom (see photo, below). The flag is a powerful symbol and should be used sparingly onsolemn occasions (Memorial Day and Veterans Day come to mind). Here, its use on every surface (including over the toilet) seemsborderline disrespectful. Perhaps a better expression of values consists of offering good food and a warm welcome to strangersand friends? This is a restaurant, after all--not a military recruitment center. But overall, I think the Patriot Grill has apromising future, and it is nice to have a clean simple dining option in downtown Oshkosh. Read more

Small town feel with big city taste. Was traveling through and stopped in for a late lunch one day and was recommended by some... of the locals to try Panhandlers. It's a cozy, but warm place with cute decorations. I especially love the chalkboard layout forthe menu (someone has some really nice penmanship...chalkmanship?)! Host and cook were super friendly and very helpful with themenu which had a nice selection of choices and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend the Popper Burger! It's great tosee little places like this in the world still and even better to be able to stop and enjoy them! Worth the visit if you're inthe area. Read more
