Very rude staff Friday 5/13 The bartender and bar back kept talking and looking over. Took forever to even get a waitress over... to us. We wound up just leaving. Went to Dockside and had a great experience glad we left! Response to owner: Yes my wife didnot have her Id and was unable to order a drink, this review has absolutely nothing to do with that, that was not what upset us.The problem lies with your staff talking and looking over at us, and when I had let your bartender know to stop making drinksthat we are going to leave your bar back came to the other side of the counter when I simply said we are leaving as if I wasacting irate. it?s to the poor service and uncomfortable feeling your employees gave us while with my children, but nice try indeflecting this review excusing your poor service and dirty establishment.Also your excuse that your staff needs to communicatewith each other, the talking and looking over lasted about 20 minutes, how much can there possibly be to communicate about that?Also we are well above drinking age and it?s clear to see with three children. It?s really baffling how you are attempting tocover up your wrongs. I suggest instead of trying to spin what was poor service on your establishments part, you try and fix theproblem. Read more

We have been going to Cove since longer than I want to think about. Mostly now take guests or birthdays. Usually get the... flounder sandwich. Don't think I'll get the bloody Mary anymore. Watered down. Everything thing we tried has been good exceptfor breaded flounder on rye. Flounder would slide out of breading when biting through bread.. Weekend best for boat traffic ondeck. This is a new favorite place to eat for me and my girls. The food was really good. I had chicken alfredo and my girls had the... salmon and the fried perch along with soup and salad bar. Everything tasted great and the service was good too. I thoughteverything was very reasonably priced. Next time we go, we'll try eating out on the porch overlooking the river. Great view of the Illinois river. Drinks are priced very well and it is an enjoyable atmosphere. The food is always good, ... cheap chicken Wednesdays and the fish fry fridays are my favorite. Looks are deceiving but park your bike or vehicle of choice and go inside you?ll dig this place. All the food around us looked... great. The chicken Philly was top notch the michelada was rock-n-roll good my girls pina colada was awesome. The vibe inside issuper cool . I dig this place. Dine-in: ordered Long island iced tea and a Reuben sandwich. The sweet potato fries and the fries my boyfriend ordered both came... out very hot! We sat near the bar and the bartender was great at checking in on us, even though we also had our own server. Iwish it had been just a little warmer so we could sit on the porch. We had the option, but decided against it. It's in an olderbuilding with a certain charm. Read more
