We haven't eaten here in many years but were going to a comedy show in the area and figured we would revisit. I read some of the... reviews before going and almost went somewhere else. So glad we didn't. The good was so fresh and delicious. Everything wasgreat. Egg rolls were fantastic as always. The restaurant was very quiet but we could see many take out/delivery orders beingprepared. We felt for the waitstaff who weren't getting the crowds they used to. If you dine in, make sure to take care of yourserver. They are doing a great job. Read more
Sharing a photo here of a recent dinner with my Dad who has been a loyal GP customer since they first opened. I'm not sure what... more needs to be said about the egg rolls, but the fact that I often willingly pay over a hundred dollars to have them shippedshould tell you that they don't mess around. Excellent chicken fried rice, ribs, and chow mien. A staple for anyone from Ottawa,and worth a stop every time I'm in town. I love eating here as the decor adds so much to the experience. So we got some take out from here yesterday and it was horrible. This is what we ordered and it cost 75$. $75 for awful mushy... food that had no flavour? I am so disappointed, never again. The eggrolls were lacking in flavour, the almond chicken soo guywas like soft mush as they put it all into the gravy, which was lacking in flavour. Even the plum sauce was watery andtasteless. Excellent egg rolls, nothing else. The ?plum sauce? was a watery, flavourless dish of orange liquid the consistency of Jell-O.... Just buy it from Food Basics like everyone else, guys. The spicy beef with green pepper was a bowl of celery stalks and rawonion in a sauce that was watery at best. I spooned it over the rice and it evaporated as quickly as liquid on the surface ofMars. $80 for two tiny dishes and 12 eggrolls. Not even a fortune cookie. Shocked is one word to describe my reaction. The ?world... famous? eggrolls were flavourless. Many other Chinese restaurants with better quality and WAY more value for your money!Disappointing experience. Read more
It was recommended that I should make a stop here for egg rolls and I'm happy that I listened. The egg rolls are large and have... a great crisp, with a meaty filling that's second to none. The open burnt ends add something special to The taste that I'venever had anywhere else. We added chicken and spring rolls to our order to have a little sample. You could taste the chicken inthe chicken rolls, which was awesome. The veggies in the spring rolls were fresh. The plum sauce could have been more flavorfulbut worked well with these rolls. It's a little oily but you're not getting these as a healthy snack. Definitely give theserolls a try. Read more
This used to be my go to place for delicious American Chinese food. Quality of their food has really diminished. The egg rolls... were not the juicy pork filled egg rolls that you could cut with a knife of post COVID. The plumb sauce was plain old plumbsauce that you could buy at the grocery store. The General Tao (Tso) chicken was dry pieces of fried chicken with Thai Sweetchili sauce on them. The fried rice was really wasn?t any thing special like it used to be with nice pieces of chicken withfresh green onions. Just your average American Chinese food now not the higher end quality of pre COVID. So disappointing. Notgood value for price save your money go somewhere else. Read more
