Some of the best specialty rolls I?ve tasted in Ottawa. Must get the first roll in my pictures I forget the name but it?s the... 3rd one on the menu at their takeout counter under Cherry Blossom. I've had a LOT of ottawa sushi, so I'm coming from a base of experience here and I'll start with the positives and end on the... negatives. I have to say, in the end, it's better than your mega chain choices of sushi kan/168 sushi as far as CHOICES go,they have a very creative menu and if you are vegan or averse-to-raw they've got a delightfully long list of cooked and/or veganrolls to choose from. They score bonus points for calling me back to confirm my GF requirements as well as providing real Wasabiand real pickled ginger (I imagine it's pickled in house; its still a ginger colour and not hot pink). But the actual taste ofthe fish and the rice leaves a little bit to be desired, and of all the new creative rolls I got to try, honestly I stillenjoyed my avocado and cucumber roll the best. So if you want to try something really new with sushi, they probably have it, butdon't expect to be wowed by the quality. We just loved this place. They DO have a few tables to sit, but mostly it?s takeout. The sushi is awesome - the shiitake roll is... a must try if you like mushrooms, and I?ve never seen the squid wakame roll anywhere, but it was AHMAZING. Fresh, delicioussashimi.
