What an absolute treat of an evening at the Keg. This was our first visit to this location in Kanata and it will not be our... last. The restaurant is beautiful, the service was incredible. The hostess held open the main door as we entered, and we weretaken directly to our pre-reserved table. We were looked after perfectly, and our service was excellent. Fresh bread, drinks,and main courses were excellent. Our server stopped by after the first few bites to confirm we were happy. Other restaurantstake notes.. that is the proper way to impress a customer. It was my 50th birthday, and I could not have asked for a moreperfect evening. The next day we got an email from the manager thanking us for choosing the Keg! What a fantastic experience.Please do yourself a favour and make this Keg restaurant a priority. Wife and I are from Montreal and decided to go on a. Drive towards Ottawa. Decided to have dinner here for Wife?s birthday and... glad we did. Staff are friendly and polite. Food was great. Wife?s steak was on the overcooked side but was quickly corrected.Thank you to the manager (didn?t get her name) and Alex our waiter for making our first visit a wonderful evening. Hostess Georgia and server Vanessa were both polite and friendly. I don't think that staff get enough weight during a review, as... they set the tone, pace and should embrace the atmosphere. Vanessa praised my wine selection and had great table sideetiquette. The food was amazing! (as is usually the case). Great food and service. We ordered takeout for the New York striploin with garlic mashed potatoes, rib steak and an order of... vegetables. The rib steak was tender and the strip loin had a nice sear. Garlic mashed potatoes are to die for. Will comeagain! Came back for their burger, ordered the blackened chicken too. Both good. Ordered a takeout order online from here. Arrived and was told they sold out of their mushroom appetizer. Ordered a different... one instead. While i was standing there, the staff complained about the customers they had. I paid 100$ for my order and this iswhat I get? I am overly disappointed. I was contemplating weather to rate this at 2 stars but 3 felt like pushing it so this feels more comfortable. At the price... point I do expect a bit more than I got. For the food my wife had ordered the chicken that was supposed to also have someasparagus however those two individual pieces were quickly eaten leaving nothing but chicken and potatoes. My meal had no majorcomplains other than the large plate really made the rest of the meal look small by comparison. This is why 2 stars was hard asthe food wasn't really bad. The service was not what I would deem horrible however inexperienced is a more appropriateterm. Not too much knowledge of the drink menu on tap and such, and probably missed out on upselling some additional drinks ashe never asked if I wanted more. The wait time in-between just asking for drinks and than taking our appetizer order was alittle long as usually both of these are done in tandem. I was asked a few times if we need anything and and I had to keepasking for more water(and the above alcohol statement), so yes. By the end we were still in the middle of eating when he hadasked us about the bill ... this is a red flag as I was trying to enjoy my desert that was just bought out no more than 5minutes prior, but it was clear we were no longer wanted. I also asked which way we should take out but he was too busy readingreceipt. Again the food was not bad and I am not too picky when it comes to serving but when you are charging a premium andworking in an industry that expects additional compensation for the staff I would hope to at least have some water. I will makethe drive down town to another location if we decide on going out to a steakhouse chain again. Read more
