Whenever I'm in the Ottumwa area this is where I go to eat. This is the closest I have found to authentic within a 80 mile... radius to the East of Ottumwa. The food is always awesome. Unfortunately this restaurant is just not up to par. No indoor dining. Order at the window. Seems like flies are infesting this... place. Our food tasted a bit old. The Birra was decent but overall this placed lacked flavor. Also cleanliness needsimprovement. Read more

Mimi's is a small authentic Mexican restaurant. I was a little disappointed when it came to the chips and salsa. The chips were... definitely store bought and the salsa wasn't anywhere as good as I expected. I was a little nervous about the meal I hadordered. Based off of the chips and salsa I was a little questionable as to whether my meal would be worth the wait moneyspent. When my meal arrived I was shocked by how good it looked. After taking the first bite, I was hooked. The fajitas I gotwas exceptionally good. The reason I gave Mimi's four stars was because of the chips and salsa. But if you aren't into that,but like eating authentic Mexican and not you Texmexs style Mexican food. Then Mimi's is a great choice. I have always loved Mimi's Steak Tacos & Rice. Best in town in my opinion. Plus authenticity counts.
