A local institution, hidden down an alley. Kid friendly if you go early enough. Great food, cool atmosphere, decent beer... selection. What more could you want. The beer and wings we had were top notch. Read more

Follow me for more reviews! Down an alley in Oxford, through a door and up the stairs was Mac & Joe's. It seemed really busy... for a summer Saturday in Oxford. There were lots of families. The atmosphere is a bit dark even those I watched them clean thetable it was sticky-- a side effect of the disinfectant, I'm sure. The ceiling was covered in beer tap handles so that was kindaneat. I love steak sandwiches so went with the Famous Since 1965 steak sandwich and it was the most unremarkable steak sandwichI've ever had. Seriously. It's hard to even describe it because it was so unremarkable. I ate it without the top bun because...Well, unremarkable. My dining companions enjoyed their food more than I did. I did sneak a bite of a burger and a few tots andthey were infinitely better than the Famous Since 1965 steak sandwich. But that steak sandwich is 3? at best. Read more

Very unique restaurant! Not in a traditional location or with a traditional entrance. It didn't seem like parking was close,... but it wasn't an issue. Don't let any of those things throw you off though. This a place definitely worth trying. The picklefries were very good! I also ordered the traditional and wasn't disappointed. There were several things on the menu I would'veordered had it not been my first time and had to try the signature item! I hope I make it back to Oxford again so I can comeback! Read more

SMOKEHOUSE BURGER!!???????????? The BEST burger I've ever had!! and I'm almost 60. Very friendly server. The decor of TAPS past... on display on the ceiling was unique. the only think keeping it from a 5 star was the salad that was too small for theprice...only my personal opinion. I'll return soon for the same burger but get some hot ???? as the side. Did I mention theburger was THE BEST!!!! Read more

Unfortunately I only gave it three stars because the food was overcooked. Flavor was great, but the Philly was chard and barely... had any meat on it. Fries were definitely overcooked or double fried. My daughter's chicken wings were hard and barely had anysauce on them. As for the Fish and Chips we have had better fish sticks than this. Not sure if the cook was just having a badday, but no! Staff was great and the location was very interesting. Like an old speakeasy! Plus they didn't have Pepsi. If theydid I might have given them another star Read more

Was looking for a place that could host a group of 13 with kids and an adult with certain food allergies and my Google peeps... came through. It was interesting getting in as we weren't really expecting the main entrance to be in the alley, but it reallylent to the atmosphere. It's smaller than I expected but they hosted us no problem. The place has a local pub vibe and Inoticed right away the ceiling loaded with old beer taps... it really looks cool! When you walk in you're greeted by a superfriendly staff - they're simply ready, willing, and able to give you a warm and enjoyable experience. We ordered fried picklesand Mac and cheese balls to start. The dishes we ordered were varied; BBQ chicken wings, fish tacos, a couple of burgers, and Igot the traditional Miami steak sandwich with onion rings. The fried pickles were pretty good and everyone really liked theirdishes - especially the burgers! The traditional Miami steak sandwich was really good too. It reminded me of a veal parmsandwich with a little less cheese. It came with a side of onion rings that had a nice flavorful dipping sauce. If I went tocollege here, this place would have been my "go to". I approve and recommend you pay them a visit! Read more
