This place is not authentic for the dishes I ordered Let me break down why Takoyaki (Octopus balls) - The dough was very raw... and uncooked. - Octopus inside was overly tough - The mayo is supposed to go on top and it's supposed to be a Japanese mayolike Kewpie mayo, not an American mayo. The taste of Japanese mayo is different and far superior. I included a comparison of themayo they gave me and some Kewpie mayo I had in my fridge. - No katsuobushi ( Bonito flakes) or other usual toppings Onigiri(rice triangle with filling wrapped in seaweed) - Too thin - Rice was overcooked I hope you don't eat at this place and thinkto yourself "I don't like Japanese food". This sushi was really fresh tasting. Nice employee and a variety of simple to complex rolls.
Best sushi in Monterey County. The fact that this hole in the wall spot is successful enough to be able to open a sit down... restuarant in downtown Monterey should attest to the quality. Read more
Terrible quality I eat Japanese food regularly and this place has to be lowest quality places I've ever had the chance to... try. Fish was low quality / frozen. Every Japanese restaurant around the area is a way better option then this place I wouldn'ttrust the cleanliness of this place the back looks dirty and messy. Read more

Take out only sushi. I have never had a questionable piece of fish from Ocean Sushi over at least a decade. Excellent selection,... friendly staff, fair prices. Total hole-in-the-wall take-out for a great sushi night at home. (But get your saki at Safewaybeforehand) Read more
Excellent customer service. Sushi are good for the price. Not the best, but deserve a 4/5 price-wise and for the good customer... service: they are really fast and know how to deal with food allergies (sesame seeds). Quality and price : Comparable to whatyou might find in some Safeway in big cities. Read more
