The sushi was great; I had the Sumi Roll, and the chef’s special sauce was delicious. However, I also shared the chicken and... steak hibachi with my wife, and it was horrible. The steak was chewy, and the chicken tasted like old stagnant tap water. Noflavor at all, even with teriyaki sauce poured all over. We shared a side of rice and noodles as well, and these had no flavoreither. We both drank iced water with our meal, and the water tasted better than the food. We left feeling nauseated and gaveaway our leftovers because we couldn’t stand the smell of the food. 5/5 stars for the sushi, 0/5 stars for the hibachi. Read more
The flavors are consistent each time we've gone. Soho roll and hibachi plate are enough for 2 to share! So delish????
My sushi was amazing. This is the green hornet and the Philadelphia roll. The server was very attentive and super friendly also.... This was a much better experience than I had from there a year ago. Read more
Great restaurant, great food and service is always great. Most of the negative reviews are honestly from people trying to get a... free meal, which is quite upsetting. We’ve been eating at Sumi for years and we never had an issue. We do take outs as well,if we don’t get our drinks is totally because we forgot or didn’t want to get the free water or iced tea that comes with thespecials, no big deal! This is the best Japanese cuisine/ Asian / sushi in this area, hands down!!! Small family owned - friendly staff. Loyal... customers!!!! Unfortunately, there’s always one here and there that needs to say something negative … but before you do,here are somethings to consider: was it a busy shift? Were there new trainees? Short staffed? Have you ever waitressed before?I found that only people who has no knowledge of what it takes to to it all, are the ones to leave negative feedbacks. This isall made to order food, so 25min-30min is normal for a sushi or hibachi meal to go or dine in— busy shifts varies to 45min -over an hour. If you don’t have the time or are in a rush, McDonald’s and Burger King are around the corner. PLEASE people,BE KIND - and more understanding when you post PETTY comments. I’m just extremely happy Sumi Japanese Cuisine has survivedthis pandemic who has destroyed our economy and appearently people’s common sense and kindness. Read more
HEAVY ON THE MSG! I was desperate for shrimp fried rice and don't care for the other options in Palatka. I have only ordered... clear and miso soup from here which is hard to mess up. My order was placed as a pickup: one clear soup 2$, shrimp fried rice$9.xx and extra shrimp 5$ the extra shrimp may have been hiding. Very disappointed ????. Clear soup was regular as expected butmy rice had zero veges not even a hint of onion the rice was a very poor grade as well. I called to ask about the ingredientsand was told no veges only a speck of onion and green onion. I was told TO REQUEST NO MSG. My tongue was numb from the MSG. I'llstick to the clear soup and my wok at home. Read more
