After friend's suggestion where to go for sushi in Park Ridge, came to Shakou. Very spacious place a bit off Japanese style, but... I liked seatings by windows. Started off with stuffed jalapeno, such a beautiful looking dish, crispy, rich and delicious! Forentrees we shared few signature maki rolls, server helped us choose. Rolls were okay, nothing spectacular, I've tried better atfew places around here. So I have no wish to go back to this place, even tho it's not bad. For me Blufish better choice. Read more
I like decor here even though it is weird that Japanese restaurant sharing one space with sport bar, so they decided to... sacrificed authenticity and to provide Americanized experience - I am not a fan of it. Fresh food that makes the sushi yummy. Atmosphere is great for dates or night out with friends. Music has a good beat. Drinks... are on the sweet side so order your own cocktail unless you like drinking jolly ranchers. Read more
Shakou is my favorite Sushi restaurant it provides a great family atmosphere as well as a romantic scenario. The staff are great... as well they accommodate your every need. As far the sushi is concerned it is the best in my opinion. I recommend the Lobsterroll, Green & Fire dragon! Read more
Our favorite place to go! No matter what, we order Black Widow roll, which is amazing. The other rolls are good as well as... grilled food. Braised short rib is one of our favorites. Always good service and nice atmosphere. The place is busy, make sureto do reservation in advance. Read more
Another "not my first time here, but first Google review!" Chic spot. Sushi rolls and Nigiri are always fresh - can be a bit... pricey. Jalapeño Margarita tastes like candy but has heat. Usually order the Niki Niku Maki Roll and Flaming Hamachi Roll,along with their Hot House Sake. Read more
We came here for a birthday dinner reservation for two. Upon arrival we had to wait to be seated because they needed to find us... a table. After that we got seated at the couches. That would be fine for a larger party but for two it’s not practical. Oncethe appetizer came out we had to move to one side of the couches just so we could try to eat comfortably. As if eating hunchedlike the hunch back of Norte Dame is comfortable. The music does not fit the environment. We came to eat sushi at a nicerestaurant, not a night club. To put into perspective at some point in the night a remix of Jeremiah - Down on Me startedplaying. Then as the night progressed two waitresses turned our table area into an express lane. I have never had a restaurantexperience where waitress walk with dirty dishes and cups through another parties table, regardless if we were using the othercouch or not. In one of those passes the waitress surprised us with spilling someone else’s residual water on our table. Shedidn’t apologize or even clean it up. I’ve never been more inclined to eat quick, take the remainder to go, andleave. After dinner my partner told me he was upset because when making the reservation he asked them to come out and singhappy birthday to me. Which they didn’t. Definitely will not be returning. Read more
