I love the old work environment, the decor and when I saw the harp, wow, I was totally impressed. The food was a long time... coming but it was fresh and tasty when it came. It was well presented and i felt that the time was taken to prepare the foodfor me. It's an expensive experience if you want a filling experience but I would expect at least cloth napkins. In spite ofthe grand old world charm the touches of plastic, like the runners on the tables outside tables and the huge plastic candy bowlwere tacky. The harpist is a good touch but she was not enchanting The service and attendance were good. I would return as Iwould like my granddaughters while visiting, to experience the old world charm. This place and particularly the service here deserves 0 stars or even negative stars. My thoughtful, loving friends hosted a... bridal shower here for me with our friends and mothers. This was a momentous day for us and this place just about ruined it. :(First, we were seated in the hot sun in the back patio. Though the patio would have been beautiful, we were not able to enjoy itbecause all the proper tables and umbrellas that were supposed to be there were given to the party out front. Second, our orderswere completely botched. And third, our food came out THREE HOURS AFTER ORDERING, which led us to missing our next appointment.The woman who finally brought out our food (and who supposedly runs the place) botched our orders, and when we tried tocommunicate, just RUDELY SHUT US DOWN. Lastly, we were overcharged... and that too for poor/rude service, terrible and minimalfood. The worst part was the lack of receptiveness from the person who runs this place and how hurtful she was. She was outrightmean, unwilling to listen and unwilling to make this a decent experience. Do not go here, especially not for any specialoccasion. The food is not good, the service is worse. After watching Bridgerton, I was stoked to go for afternoon high tea at a cute spot...and Madeline was it!!! This place... exceeded all expectations in terms of food, ambiance and service. Everything was top notch! I came in with lower expectationsbut left with a great impression. Parking is 2 hours on the streets but my server let me know that the parking lot right behindthe place was free. The tea selection was absolutely delightful with plenty of options to choose from. For food, they havevegan options which is awesome! I like my meat so I didn't order from that menu but there are also 3 different sets to choosefrom. You can opt for one set but add $28 to share. This means you get two teapots of choice, two soups and two scones. The restare just one set but definitely shareable between two people. My two favorites were the scones and the crab cakes!! Idefinitely wanted seconds for both. Now on to decor...wow it was so beautifully decorated inside the place. I thought I was inParis on a fine summer day sipping tea and catching up with a friend. They also had someone playing the harp which upped myexperience another notch. My server was so kind and offered me a little something extra because I was still hungry. I took my seven year old daughter to this very charming little spot in Pasadena. We sat outside in a shaded patio area that was... clean and pretty. The staff is amazing, the tea was excellent and the tomato soup was on point. The presentation on their tierswere quite lovely. A pretty spendy lunch date, but I am glad I went. Read more
Beautiful historic tea room & restaurant. The ambiance was beautiful. It was like stepping back in time! The place settings and... tea service were so quaint. The food was very good, rather pricier than I was expecting, but worth it. My only disappointmentwas our server never came back to check on us and ask to refill our mimosas or water or ask if we needed anything. Read more
