This place has so many rules and has very limited and outdated information on the website. Tea is only available on the... weekends. Reservations are only open a week beforehand via phone. Cash or check only, no photos allowed. There is also a shopthat is opened at other times but the exact hours are not posted... I called in advance to visit the shop since reservationswere all gone. When I arrived, it was closed for a private event until 3. I returned after 3 and the store didn't open. I calledand they begrudgingly opened the door to let me in. There are no prices listed for anything and the lady was so grouchy andrude. A small bag of cookies was being sold for over $10... The "fresh and baked daily" scones were refrigerated. Most of thethings being sold looked like it has been sitting there for years. I was being followed the entire time I was there and rushedout as soon I paid... Not sure if race was a factor but I was made to feel very inferior and unwanted. Read more
We had such a lovely time celebrating my mom's birthday ! Edmond and Mary are a true delight to be around and their passion for... what they do colors every aspect of the Rose Tree Garden.The tea was delicious, the ambiance was calming and relaxing and thefood was fantastic ! If you are in the mood for an excellent and authentic English Afternoon Tea experience, this is the placeto go There's also a little shop attached with all kinds of English treats and trinkets , clothes and hats and ofcourse , tea!And if that isn't enough, they have a charitable venture called Bloom Where Planted that supports a school in Kenya, and aportion of the proceeds from Rose Tree Garden go toward it. The staff is friendly and warm. There's plenty of parking off ofBellefontaine st and the shop is open 7 days a week. You do not want to pass up on this little gem in South Passadena. So lovely here. I love picking up the delicious scones and phenomenal sticky toffee pudding which they bake there. And all the... curds which they also make; so heavenly and so special. No other store bought stuff will compare! Edmund was so kind to chatwith me as well and it was such a pleasure to stop by. The Rose Tea Cottage offers the most charming afternoon tea experience in all of (greater) Los Angeles. Edmund and Mary are the... loveliest couple who take great care in making their guests feel at home. We even played croquet with Edmund after our tea wasover! The sandwiches and desserts are delicious, and their homemade scones are out of this world. I truly can't say enough goodthings about this establishment. England is much closer than you think when you visit Rose Tree Cottage. We have the pleasure to return to Rose Tree cottage for... those priceless moments of civilized Tea times. Edmund and Mary receive you in a lovely cottage ( and recently with therestrictions brought by Covid) in the gardens. We love the Christmas tea with brass band . Great place to shop for those scones,English Jams, Barbour jacket or English China among others. A must visit ! Read more

My husband and I stopped by on our anniversary, and Edmund went out of his way to make it special. Five star hospitality with a... healthy dollop of English charm. Also, Rose Tree Cottage has the best shortbread cookies, scones, and lemon curd I?ve evertasted, all made in house by Edmund himself. We purchased all of the above (2 jars of the lemon curd, please and thank you!),none of which will see Thanksgiving. Thank you again, Edmund and Mary, for the jewel that is Rose Tree Cottage. ????
