We just ate some outstanding Mediterranean food at the Zephyr. All the food was beautiful and tasty. The service was friendly... and very professional. We tried the grape leaves, three types of dip, steak kebabs, felafel, and the Greek salad. Everything wasmarvelous. It?s a family run business, and the chef can really cook. I hate to write a three-star review because as a fellow Armenian I love to support Armenian-owned businesses and don't want to... give bad rep. It's just a few pointers for business owners to maybe take into consideration. For positives, I think the familythat owns the business are very kind and nice people. They all seem super hardworking and caring of their customers. Theportions are very large and the hummus and fried kibbeh were pretty good. For negatives, the rice was incredibly buttery, likebuttery rice is delicious but it had way too much butter. The kabob that I got was really dry and it came with eggplants whichwere quite bitter it was hard to finish and a friend who got the same dish said the same. I was very excited to eat from this restaurant after all the reviews I seen on yelp and google, I came hungry and excited,... only to get food poisoning from the lamb chops. One of thd chops tasted like old meat that was passed the freshness date butwas cooked anyway, and then left out. This was the last chop I ate out of the four. The waitress came to my table twice, thewhole time I was there on here own. The third time I had to get her attention to ask for my check. I was not impressed with thefood at all. The pita bread was hard, and the humus didn't have much flavor or amout. The rice was cold. They had no in househot sauce available, so offered Tapito hot sauce packets. I went in the middle of the afternoon on Sunday thinking I wouldreceive exceptional service. Instead I left with food poison. I would not want anyone to experience this. Opened at 10am. Wide variety of food selections. Delicious! Right temperature, right proportions, great attention. Owner(?)... kindly turned on and moved heating lamp closer to our table. Ordered the Kurdiyeh, Sujoukh & Egg plate (pictured), Lule KebabWrap, Garlic french fries and coffee (2 people). Great moments can be made here! Read more
What a great place. Was in the mood for lamb and this place fit the bill! My friend Mary got a Chicken Kabob Wrap($10) and I got... the Lamb Chops plate($24). Her wrap was fresh, moist and delicious! Mine came with 4 nicely charred lamb chops, fresh spicedonions, grilled tomato and green chile, buttered rice, good portion of delicious hummus, and Pita bread. Wow! So good! Greatservice. After eating owner Sahag checked on us which turned into a lively talk about food and liquor so called over his cousinAsadour(AKA Ozzie) who's worked as a bar manager at some famous restaurants. In my life I've worked for catering companies as aBBQ chef waiter, and bartender so we had a spirited talk about drinks and food for over 20 minutes! Amazing spot in Pasadena! New owners are super nice and welcoming! Tons of shaded outdoor seating with TVs. The food is top... notch! Ordered hummus, cheese rolls, mante and chicken kebab - all were super yummy! Can?t wait to go back and try the rest oftheir menu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Read more
As with so many restaurants these pandemic-effected days, Zephyr is way too short staffed, and is out of item menues frequently.... They do have a large outdoor patio area with heaters, but bc if staffing shortages t he e service really suffers. We wereparticularly found of the lamb cho of s, that are delicious and cooked to perfection, but the last two times we went to Zephyrexpressly for them, they were sold out. Staff seems stressed, so friendliness is a bit strained, but we will keep returning toZephyr in hopes things improve. Read more
