I come to here for breakfast when I visit my so. In college. Never disappointed. Don?t be dissuaded by the waiting line. It... goes quickly. They have a lot of seating and quick turn arounds. we?ve been a regular at Modern Diner for a few years now. The first time I tried their custard french toast, I was just blown... away by how good it was, and I get it every time I dine in or take out. Not just a pretty picture! I googled to see if there were any Food Network highlighted restaurants in Pawtucket and I got a hit... on the Modern Diner. I decided to go after my morning workout (yes, so I can eat). From the outside the diner looks prettyold?and it is. But step inside and you are immediately transported back to the 1930?s. Rather a modern representation of abygone era, this is the real deal?all the way down to the ?modern? veneer table tops?complete with chips from real use and age.Wonderful. I wish I had been wearing a wool suit and fedora. I choose to order the Food Network highlight, custard Frenchtoast. And?.yes, it tasted as good as it looked. No syrup needed! I got an order of sausage on the side?not only fat and huge,but 4 of them. Needless to say, I couldn?t eat it all and wish I had my wife there to split it with. So many times we arefooled with great pictures and when the final product appears we wonder how something could be so far off. Not at ModernDiner. 5 stars for sure. If I?d ding anything, I didn?t like the coffee. But I guess it was French roast and I am not a fan.Next time OJ for me. Go check out this little gem in Pawtucket and see for yourself. Read more
Just a short drive from Providence I was able to try this place for the first time and it didn?t disappoint the reviews I read... prior to visiting! The place has a long history and they even do a little education on the front of their menu on how Dinersstarted off! The service was fast and friendly, the food was delicious!! I had omelette, home fries and white toast and splitsome French toast with my friend and it was one of the best I?ve had in the state of RI!! Definitely check this place out if youget the chance!!
