I recently had my 60th bday party at Stanzy's. Zach and Sara were awesome as were the rest of the staff. They went out of there... way to make the party exceptional!! Food was great. Our waitress seem to forget about us when we first sat down, but still had good service after that bump... initially. They had live music on a Saturday evening which was a surprise to us, a bit too loud for my taste but the musicianwas great. Read more
OUTSTANDING! What a exceptional restaurant to visit! I can barely explain how wonderful my experience was in words. Here's the... scoop. My Wife and I were visiting the area and then the hunger struck. We used this app and found this GEM! of a restaurant. Wehad placed a reservation time of 630-7:00pm the hostess which answered the phone was very friendly and welcoming over thetelephone. We were running a little late so I called the restaurant at about 6:45 just to let them know we are running a littlebehind schedule, again the same hostess answered the call. She kindly said they will put our names on the coming late list andit was no problem. Walking through the front i noticed the glass on the doors crystal clear! With my experiences in thishospitality industry, I know that's a great sign of proper management. We walk in and are so welcomed by the hostess who thenshowed us our table which was sparkling clean. Right away our server came to greet us with fresh waters. We chose to start ourmeal with the pulled pork nachos, Stanzys famous wings, and wifey wanted to try the collard greens which we were able to orderas a side. The nachos were great, they were served in a large cast iron pan. I love the beer cheese they use in addiction ontop of the cheddar. So good! The collard greens with bacon was so delicious I wanted more so we also ordered more to go withus. ???? Now the wings were perfectly fried nice and crispy. What made it SPECTACULAR was the choice of sauces that accompaniedit. The Carolina gold was just the right amount of sweet, heat, and a bit tangy. Delish! For entrees I had the shrimp andgrits. I loved it and was so satisfied. My wife had the baby back ribs, which were served with macaroni and cheese and a couplebiscuits with a side of honey butter. Wife & I just went here this morning for brunch for the first time after it being recommended to us and it was amazing! Food,... drinks, staff and atmosphere were all top level! Highly recommend! Looking forward to going back for their live music nights totry their dinner menu & drinks! Read more
There are some places that I want patronize a couple of times before writing a review. However I enjoyed this place and decided... to write. So a southern style restaurant is actually a novel thing here, we just do not think of it and we have every othertype of cuisine you can about imagine (well, in Boston at least. The further out from population centers the less cuisine stylesavailable). Peabody and Salem have a surprisingly fair amount of options, and Stanzy's is a great addition. My wife didn't wantto come here because "it's a country place" so while she was at work, I partook. It was exciting to see alligator on the menu.There were frog legs, but that was a special and doesn't appear to be back on the menu (I really wanna try!) So I'll have tokeep an eye out. The alligator bites were delicious. The alligator took on more of the flavor of batter than anything.Attempting to eat a piece without the batter, I was trying to discern the flavor. "Well, it tastes like alligator" is the onlyconclusion drawn! I will argue that because it is farm raised it will hold a milder flavor when compared to wild alligator (thismy theory and one I wish to test when I do make it to New Orleans). The dipping sauce was perfect for these. The texture of themeat was interesting. Definitely not like chicken, that much I can tell you. It was closer to squid or octopus but not asrubbery, still tender and easy to chew. That's my first impression, and only way I could describe. I would love to haveagain! Chicken and waffles seem straight forward and simple, however I had never partaken so tonight was the night. The chickenhad a beautiful golden crust, juicy, the waffles were edging towards firm versus soft/fluffy. But they paired well as thewaffles had a sweetness, and maple syrup was delicious. Walked in & sat at a table with my sister. We sat down for 10-15 minutes & were blatantly ignored by the staff. They are very... well staffed and there were several servers circulating, and several staff behind the bar. I myself work in the industry as wellso I have so much compassion, patience & generosity towards industry professionals. I never feel compelled to ever leavenegative reviews but that was just completely ridiculous to be purposefully & weirdly ignored. The place was busy but windingdown and everyone had a full drink in hand and the table directly next to us was greeted and a drink order was taken. When theserver began bussing the table on the other side of us we just got up and left. The man checking IDs was really pleasant andwelcoming at least. Read more
