Unpopular opinion alert; Benchmark is, just, okay. It's not even the best steak in Toledo (Oliver House, Nancy's both better,... imo). You'll get an upscale atmosphere, good service, and an above average dining experience. You won't get an exceptionalexperience that blows you away which, at their price point, you should. Great atmosphere and family friendly restaurant. Audrey our waitress was knowledgeable and provided good customer service... throughout the night. Our plates were picked up immediately when finished with them and our water was always filled. Staying at a nearby hotel and read the reviews of Benchmark it seemed like a ?no brainer? to check the place out. However, from... my experience here I was very disappointed. The ambiance is a mix of what I?d consider industrial lounge vibes. The serviceswas great and very enthusiastic which was great. However, the food was a let down. We ordered a French onion soup and theirhouse salad with the dressing on the side. The French onion soup was good but the salads came with ranch and their creamybalsamic on them. Didn?t care for the salad dressing so it was sent back. Then the entrees came (filet and ribeye). The ribeyewas cold to the touch and colder on the inside. Only found this out after talking a bite and the cold fat like coated my mouthand just turned my stomach. The services and manager asked if they could remake the steak but I felt sick to my stomach so Ideclined. The side of green beans only came to the table after we reminded the server of them. They were very very undercooked,almost raw, with a mayonnaise like drizzle on them. Not a fan! Read more
Nice steak place. If you had their brussel sprouts before, just know that they will be coming back onto the menu. I had the... butternut squash risotto which paired wonderfully with the balsamic reduction drizzle. They serve popovers with your entree. Ialso tried the Love/Hate mocktail; an interesting blend of grapefruit juice and pickle juice that was balanced just right to beable to taste them both. Read more
