First time eating here today with my family. The rolls were tasty. We ordered the 88.95 special plus a few add-ons. Presentation... of rolls was great. Prices seemed bit higher than we're used to (compared to Hamilton) but small town so imagining that not asmuch product moves, and we usually do AYCE. Only disappointments, sweet potato fries I asked for two portions of the sidespriced at 5$ on menu. On bill was 7.95 x 2. When asked said bigger portions but they hadn't checked in with me first on that.Miso soup & seaweed smaller portions. Otherwise all very tasty. Beautiful ambience & decor. Easily on par or superior to anything found in nearby Ottawa or in Toronto. The steak was a perfect juicy medium rare and the... from fried maki rolls were a melt in your mouth melange of salty, savoury, sweet, and spicy. Tasteful and well done artworkadorns the walls with a flower geisha and sunset mountains reminiscent of Mount Fuji. Look a little higher and you have a schoolof colourful koi swimming the ceiling. Lighting in the pictures is brighter than the normal dining lighting. Overall stylish andupscale atmosphere. Relaxed music at just the right volume. The seating was comfortable with a good height on the table surfacenot being too low for the seats. Lastly, but importantly, staff were attentive, friendly, and professional! Very happy with myvisit. Amazing! Service was warm and friendly and always made you feel like a priority even though they had lots of take away orders... too. Even the kitchen staff were great!! The food was absolutely delicious and satisfying and even had to take some leftovershome. Had the chicken wings in korean sauce, salt and pepper calamari, strip loin steak with potato fries, tempura shrimp rolland dancing eek roll. Been to alot of sushi places. Though they are not AYCE, I see myself coming back to this place. Everything was good! Especially... the calamari, lightly breaded and so tender. The seaweed salad is one of the best that Ive had. Their presentation and serviceis also excellent! (not in the picture) their korean chicken (half and half) is also a must try. Read more

Gokumi Sushi is a breath of fresh air for dine-in restaurants in Petawawa. The atmosphere is classy and creative. This is... definitely a first date worthy location. The food was exceptional as well. The soft start menu is a perfect example of what's tocome for their full menu. The rolls were fresh and well proportioned. The miso soup was perfectly balanced and the ginger wasworth eating. This is a tough rating for me, because the ingredients/food were fresh and the presentation is amazing. I really want to like... this place and hope that as time goes on things improve. The quality and value for the price just isn?t there. I got theCalifornia & shrimp tempura rolls - which had fresh ingredients and yet seemed bland and lacked flavour, encouraged to soak intosoya to help. Perhaps if I went for $16 set each rather than $9 set for one it would have boosted it. My husband has thestrip-loin for $32 which was cooked perfectly, but the cut had so much gristle and for that price with no sides included Iexpected something a bit leaner (and less salty). There is no drink menu or drinks offered, with no liquor license beingmentioned I?m surprised that means they have no hot drinks or soda? The menu is very limited without much description on whatis/isn?t included. Service was non existent and food was slow to come with a clear preference on takeout, which was a revolvingdoor next to our table. Add in the AC that the waitress turned on while we were there and it was generally uncomfortable. Nochild accessibility ie booster chairs - which is okay because clearly they?re going for a classier aesthetic, but good to knownot really family friendly. The first time we asked how our food was, was when we were already waiting with finished plates for10 minutes wanting to leave. For a Saturday night at 5pm I expected them out in their best. Had the best Valentine?s Day dinner here! Service was friendly, decor was nice and the food was amazing. The steak was cooked... the perfectly and the sushi was the freshest I?ve had (and I?m from a big city!). Presentation was also stunning. So glad tohave such a nice dining experience in Petawawa!
