Went to 423 smokehouse tonight, concerned that we might be close to closing time, so I checked the sign on the door and checked... my watch. When we arrived initially, it seemed to take a moment for the waitresses to determine who?s table we were going tobe-they weren?t busy. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:15p, left at 7:35-we had received drinks initially but 15 minutespassed with zero follow-up. The restaurant was not busy-there were 3 other tables. Typically a server will ask promptly if youneed a few more minutes or if you are ready to order. As opposed to making a scene and offering the employees some much-neededfeedback, I chose to pay for our iced teas and leave. Horrible service with no excuse, can?t comment on the food-we did nothave the unknown amount of time it would have taken. We showed up after church with a group of 12 or so people. We didn't have to wait too long, maybe 20 minutes. The staff were... super friendly and helpful. I had spicy cheese curds and a brisket sandwich. The food was great! (This was my second visit andthe experience was similar the first time.) Read more
First visit to this restaurant. Honestly I was afraid to try a barbecue place that also served pizza so we avoided coming here... for a long time. We didn?t order pizza but the ribs and brisket were amazing. The beans and barbecue sauce were very good aswell. We got the fried pickles as an appetizer and they were not great, no seasoning and very greasy. It was the sameexperience with the french fries. Will definitely be back. Loaded fries topped with bbq chicken and cheese. Good portions, good favour, and friendly staff. Prices are also reasonable for... the amount given. If you're on the road and needing to take a break this is the place. Read more
My friend told me about this place! And when they brought out my full rack of Baby Back ribs, I thought my jaw dropped! BEST... RIBS I've had in a long time! The sides were delicious, a lil on the small side, but the price WAS RIGHT I'll definitely go backto 423 SMOKE HOUSE! John, can't wait to see the New Website! This review is based on a pizza order and breadsticks. Dine in. Lunch time. Why would I go to a BBQ smokehouse and order a... pizza? Well because I like pizza. Arrived and was seated fairly quickly. Order placed and food arrived pretty quick also. Foodwas hot. I ordered my typical cheese pizza for the review. The pizza undercarriage is very thin, and has no crisp to it. Thecrust was basic and just had a flower taste. The actual crust had a very light crisp to it. The sauce was a thick red sauce.There was plenty spread all over the dough. It had a nice tomato flavor. The cheese was extremely thick, if you like cheese youwill like this. It was slightly on the greasy side. There was a seasoning on the pizza also. The breadsticks had a nice garlicbutter taste, and also had the same light crisp to them. Cheese sauce was a dark yellow, almost orange color. Definitely a cheapout of the can cheese sauce. It was warm at least. All in all, I thought the pizza was just okay. Nothing I'd go specificallyfor again. The breadsticks were far better than the pizza. Excellent BBQ for small town Indiana. The ribs were meaty and the flavor was very good. Portion size was good for the price.... Pizza was tasty and the kid's meal was very good too. The pulled pork looked to be the best on the menu. Service was quick andhelpful. Read more
First time eating here out of state. All the food was cold. Very horrible. And $85 for 4 people. Do not recommend!
