Don't go to this place! Horrible food and service! We had an 8:30 pm reservation for 2 People; we ordered 2 entrees and an... appetizer. At 9:30 pm, they told me they didn't have my plate, which was ridiculous. So I ordered the plate with the orzo. At9:45 pm, they brought me a disgusting pasta with two burned meatballs because they didn't have orzo anymore. On top of that, myhusband's food was cold—the worst place to eat in Philadelphia. It was ok. The food was alright but overpriced for what it was. The baklava seemed frozen and reheated. I booked a reservation... for the courtyard but they insisted I booked it for the sidewalk which is untrue because I don't like eating on the sidewalk andwould never have. I think they gave away our table and made a mistake. The waiter did find us a table inside and gave us somefree baklava to try to smooth it over, which was nice, however we were there for a special occasion and the inside was dingywhile the courtyard was beautiful. The bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a long time and the ceiling fans had athick layer of dust which grossed me out. It's a shame because we were hoping to make this a regular place to eat since mymothers name is Effie and we were there to celebrate her memory. Read more
Great food! They were out of soup when I called so they gave us a free dessert. We got pickup but the outside area is so cute... we’ll have to come back and eat there. Read more
First time at Effie’s! This place is BYOB so definitely bring wine if you enjoy that. They have several different seating... areas. Indoor, garden, and back room are pictured below. There is also upstairs seating and sidewalk seating. We sat in thegarden, which was very cozy and cute. I’d enjoy coming here with a small group. We started with a side of tirokafteri, so yumand super spicy! The appetizer meatballs were next, we LOVED those. I got the feta pasticcio and my friend got the lambsouvlaki. Both were wonderful. Service was good, very prompt. They do charge a fee of 4% for card transactions, but we had cashso it was no problem. Not sure if they have an ATM. The ambience was lovely. Read more
Amazing Greek food. Loved the Baked Feta appetizer with tomatoes and garlic. The Lamb meatballs in orzo with tomato gravy are... just heavenly and so flavorful. Can't go wrong with any of the Feta dishes and they have an adorable backyard seating. Read more
The service was excruciatingly slow - we arrived with a reservation at 6:30, got our food around 7:50, and finally made it out... around 8:40. We had to ask multiple times for the most basic things, like menus and water, and when we asked for tzatziki saucethat was supposed to come with our food (according to the menu), we were charged an extra $14 at the end of the night. When wepointed the mistake out, they actually tried to argue that they had given us the sauces before, but we were able to providepictures showing otherwise. The moussaka was cold in the middle, as if it had been frozen and then reheated in the microwave.The lamb/chicken souvlaki plates were also burnt to a crisp. Overall, I think the restaurant is severely understaffed - therewere only two waiters serving the entire restaurant, and you could tell they were tired, so I really can’t blame them. Mywhole dinner party agreed that this was the first time we left a restaurant feeling much worse than when we came in. Read more
Really good food and excellent service. Indoor dinning is back! I like that they were so many vegetarian options for one of my... daughters who doesn’t eat meat or seafood. It is a lot of food! All very tasty. I had the lamb chops which were a bit priceybut so worth it. The vegetables were fresh and delicious. Read more
I went for the mix grill as I enjoy a little of everything. The restaurant seems to be a repurposed mutilfloor home that is... opened on upper levels. It's an enjoyable intimate environment. We were on the second floor. Staff was great and food got tous pretty quickly. It is byob. It's within 7 minute walk to the Academy of Music where our show was after dinner. Read more
